Staff Accountant

You should know

Location: On-Site in North Dallas

Compensation: $85K - 95K

The Staff Accountant plays an important role in the day-to-day accounting function by ensuring financial transactions are properly recorded, reconciled, and analyzed while supporting the month-end close process.

This position bridges the gap between entry-level accounting and senior accounting responsibilities, providing the opportunity to take ownership of core accounting functions while partnering with teams across the business to improve financial accuracy and efficiency.

What you'll do every day

  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, amortization, and routine general ledger adjustments.

  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes by completing assigned close activities accurately and on schedule.

  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items to ensure accounts are fully supported.

  • Analyze financial results and assist in researching and explaining account variances.

  • Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Operations to ensure transactions are accurately recorded and classified.

  • Assist with inventory accounting, including reconciliations, inventory adjustments, and valuation support.

  • Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and supporting accounting documentation.

  • Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for internal reporting, audits, and financial statement preparation.

  • Assist with external audit requests by gathering documentation and responding to information requests.

  • Follow established internal controls and recommend process improvements that enhance accuracy and efficiency.

  • Participate in special projects, financial analysis, and other accounting initiatives as assigned.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • 2-4 years of progressive accounting experience.

  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles.

  • Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting month-end close activities.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Experience working within an ERP system; NetSuite experience is a plus.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and working with large data sets.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.

Bonus if you have

  • CPA or CPA candidate.

  • Experience in eCommerce, retail, distribution, or inventory-intensive environments.

  • Exposure to inventory accounting or fixed asset accounting.

  • Experience supporting external audits.

  • Familiarity with sales tax, payment processors, or revenue accounting concepts.
