The Staff Accountant will manage payroll tax filings, bank reconciliations, prepare financial reports, assist in audits, and support multiple accounting tasks.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is responsible for the direct accounting activities of GT Independence, at the direction of the Controller.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Preparation of all corporate payroll tax filings and 401k deposits
- Monthly preparation of bank reconciliations for all bank accounts
- Prepares or directs the preparation of reports which summarize business activity and financial position in all financial areas
- Prepare W-2’s and 1099’s for internal employees
- Preparation and payment of Field Service Representatives commissions
- Preparation of reconciliations for general ledger accounts in conjunction with monthly internal financial statement preparation
- Assist in annual financial statement and 401k audits
- Assist with all state and federal audits
- Projects as necessary
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Finance/Accounting
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 2 years of experience relevant to the work performed
- CPA preferred but not required
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products, specifically Great Plains
- Ability to oversee and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong ability to analyze data
- Near acuity for checking and copying figures
