Form Health is a virtual obesity medicine clinic delivering multi-disciplinary evidence-based obesity treatment through telemedicine. Obesity impacts more than 40% of the US adult population, and although historically only about 1% of patients received medical treatment for their disease, the field of Obesity Medicine is entering a period of rapid growth. Form Health provides high-quality expert care and leverages technology to enhance the patient experience. All Form Health patients work closely with their care team, which includes board certified physicians, advanced practice professionals and Registered Dietitians. Through our proprietary mobile app patients engage in regular video visits, as well as text messaging, photo journaling, digital data transmission, and customized educational materials. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of clinical care, and to treating every individual with empathy and respect.

Founded in 2019, Form Health is a venture-backed innovative startup with an experienced clinical and leadership team. Our mission is to empower patients and be leaders in Obesity Medicine driving impact at a national scale. We are deeply invested in our core value to put patients first, and also deeply committed to creating a culture where every employee is valued and we learn and improve together.

About the Role:

Form Health is building a clinical-grade care platform that powers longitudinal obesity and cardiometabolic treatment at national scale. The software we build directly impacts how patients access care, how clinicians deliver it, and how our operations run reliably and efficiently. We’re hiring a Senior/Staff level Software Engineer to own and evolve critical systems that support patient experiences, clinical workflows, and operational infrastructure. In this role, you’ll work on high-impact product and platform initiatives that require strong technical judgment, thoughtful architecture, and close cross-functional collaboration. This role is ideal for a senior engineer who thrives in complex domains, operates with high ownership, and can translate ambiguous real-world requirements into reliable, scalable systems. You’ll partner closely with product, clinical, and operations leaders to deliver safe, incremental improvements that meaningfully impact patient care.

This is a fully remote role open to candidates located anywhere in the United States.

What You Will Do

You will design, build, and operate resilient systems that power patient care, clinical workflows, and operational backend scalability across Form Health’s platform.

System Ownership & Technical Leadership
  • Own the design, implementation, and long-term health of business-critical systems and services.
  • Translate complex product, clinical, and operational requirements into pragmatic, incremental technical solutions.
  • Lead architectural decisions that balance simplicity, scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Identify technical risks early and drive thoughtful mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as a domain expert within your area, raising technical standards and influencing decisions across the team.
Product & Platform Engineering
  • Build and evolve application services, APIs, workflows, and internal tools using technologies such as Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Node.js, GraphQL, and modern React frameworks
  • Design and operate systems in a cloud-native AWS environment, leveraging containerized workloads, serverless functions, managed data stores, and event-driven architectures.
  • Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows to support safe, reliable, and incremental releases.
  • Design and maintain secure, reliable data flows across internal systems and external partners.
Contribute to systems that support areas such as care delivery workflows, operational tooling, data exchange, automation, and intelligent product experiences.
  • Implement progressive delivery practices including feature flags, staged rollouts, and strong observability to enable safe iteration.
  • Improve system performance, data models, and service reliability in a regulated healthcare environment.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Partner closely with product, clinical, operations, and design teams to deliver measurable patient and business impact.
  • Participate in technical discovery and help shape roadmaps through strong engineering judgment.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and architectural discussions.
  • Contribute to evolving engineering processes and tooling to improve quality, velocity, and resilience.
  • Uphold a culture of empathy, ownership, and continuous learning.
About You

You’re a senior level engineer who thrives in complex, real-world systems. You enjoy owning problems end-to-end, working across disciplines, and building software that operates reliably under real operational and clinical constraints. You bring experience such as:

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent depth demonstrated through impactful work
  • Owning and operating business-critical systems in production environments
  • Translating ambiguous requirements into reliable, scalable technical solutions
  • Working in fast-moving or high-growth environments where priorities evolve
  • Making pragmatic tradeoffs that balance short-term delivery with long-term system health
  • Collaborating closely with product, operations, or domain experts to deliver meaningful outcomes
  • Raising the bar through strong technical judgment, mentorship, and thoughtful code review
  • Comfortably leveraging AI-powered developer tools (e.g., AI coding assistants) to improve productivity while maintaining code quality and review rigor
  • Experience in healthcare, insurance, revenue systems, AI/LLM-enabled products, or other regulated domains is a strong plus, but not required.
Your Impact

Your contributions will have a massive impact building a world-class product, service, and team. We support patients in their weight loss journey and their clinical care teams with integrated chronic care and a mobile app with features like:

  • Secure, HIPAA-compliant meal photo sharing, video chat visits, and text messaging
  • Personalized content delivery (meal plans, timely resources, daily tips)
  • Data collection and visualization
  • A/B experiments and feature flags to deliver and measure impact continuously
  • Much more on our roadmap
