Job Summary 

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to serve as a hands-on technical leader for high-impact initiatives at BookedBy. In this role, you’ll design and deliver complex features, ensure systems are built with scalability and reliability in mind, and mentor engineers to raise the technical bar. You will lead technical execution on projects, help teams navigate tough trade-offs, and foster adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to accelerate delivery and quality. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the design and delivery of major features and projects across the platform. 
  • Write production-quality code while guiding engineers through technical challenges. 
  • Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and maintainable, balancing long-term and short-term needs. 
  • Partner closely with product managers, designers, and cross-functional stakeholders to align on requirements and trade-offs. 
  • Mentor and coach Senior Engineers, helping them grow into technical leaders. 
  • Drive adoption of best practices in testing, performance, using Agentic AI development. 
  • Proactively identify and address technical debt and system risks before they impact the business. 

Qualifications & Skills 

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience. 
  • Deep knowledge of system design, architecture, and modern engineering practices. 
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain large-scale applications. 
  • Hands-on coding skills in modern frameworks/languages (e.g. Java, C#, Node.js, Python). 
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, databases, and API design. 
  • Experience mentoring engineers and raising the technical quality of a team. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to bridge business and technical needs. 
  • Excitement about applying Agentic AI in all of your development processes. 

Bonus Points: 

  • Familiarity or experience with the .NET framework
