Job DescriptionVisa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Staff SW Engineer (multiple openings) in Austin, TX to:
- Design, enhance, and build next generation fraud detection platforms in an agile development environment.
- Play part of multiple teams tasked with projects ranging from full stack development, Rest based APIs, Container based services to highly functional, secure, scalable, and resilient systems.
- Lead teams/projects functionally and will be responsible for delivering to Ecosystem and Operation Risk roadmap commitments.
- Contribute to release planning exercise, assign, and track work of team members to timely releases.
- Responsibilities include technical analysis and creation of conceptual approach.
- Develop code that complies with design specifications and meets security and Java best practices.
- Perform coding that must adhere security standards, be easily maintainable and be high performant.
- Set Coding standards and best practices for the teams’ deliverables.
- Evaluate options and provide recommendation on scope and scale of effort required to implement final requirements.
- Identify opportunities for future enhancements and refinements to standards, best practices, and development methodologies.
- Participate and lead design and code review sessions as appropriate to ensure the quality of work delivered by self and teammates are in accordance with development standards.
- Collaborate with business partners on requirements elaboration, design, configuration, and business re-engineering.
- Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms.
- Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.
- Position reports to the Austin, Texas office and may allow for partial telecommuting.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field, followed by 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a software engineer-related occupation.
- Position requires experience in the following:
- Full stack technology, in at least one of the following technologies: Java, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Angular, JavaScript, MySQL, Maven, Design Patterns, or Test Automation framework;
- Front-end development skills and architect level knowledge in back-end;
- Developing large scale, enterprise class distributed systems of high availability, low latency, & strong data consistency;
- Agile development incorporating Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, utilizing technologies GIT, Maven, and Jenkins;
- Event driven architecture utilizing message brokers such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent;
- Stakeholder communication to understand their requirements and translate those requirements into detailed user stories and acceptance criteria; and
- Using caching and NoSQL technology (Redis, MongoDB, Cassandra or equivalent) to improve efficiency of multi-threaded/multi-process applications/services.
Worksite: Austin, TX
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for this position is $163,550.00 USD to $210,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
