Our customers are deeply committed to making the world a better place—and we’re inspired by the opportunity to help them succeed.

About the Role

The Strategic Renewals Account Executive owns renewal strategy and execution for Blackbaud’s largest and most complex enterprise customers. This role is a senior individual contributor and a backfill for one of the most senior positions on the team, requiring strong commercial judgment, executive presence, and deep experience navigating high‑stakes, enterprise‑level renewals.

You will manage high dollar portfolios, lead complex renewal and expansion negotiations, and orchestrate cross‑functional teams to protect, preserve, and grow both revenue and long‑term customer relationships. Success in this role requires strategic foresight, executive presence, commercial and negotiation excellence, as well as  comfort operating in ambiguity, managing renewal risk, and engaging senior executives both internally and externally.

What You’ll Do:

Own Enterprise Renewal Strategy

  • Develop and execute long‑term, risk‑based renewal strategies for Blackbaud’s largest enterprise customers.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate churn risk, competitive pressure, and commercial obstacles within complex accounts.
  • Lead high‑stakes renewal negotiations involving pricing strategy, contract terms, and executive approvals.

Drive Expansion Through Renewals

  • Own expansion strategy within the renewal motion, identifying opportunities to grow accounts through additional solutions, services, or scope.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Professional Services to position and close expansion opportunities.

Lead Cross‑Functional Deal Orchestration

  • Orchestrate complex renewal and expansion deals across Finance, Legal, Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Executive Leadership.
  • Ensure internal alignment, clear decision‑making, and timely execution across all stakeholders.

Act as a Trusted Executive Advisor

  • Establish and maintain executive‑level relationships within customer organizations.
  • Lead executive business reviews and strategic planning conversations that align Blackbaud’s solutions to customer goals.
  • Represent Blackbaud as a trusted partner and advisor in complex, high‑impact customer engagements.

Forecasting & Commercial Discipline

  • Build and maintain an accurate pipeline and high‑confidence forecasts for large, complex renewals.
  • Demonstrate strong commercial discipline, data fluency, and accountability for outcomes.

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise sales or strategic renewals, with demonstrated ownership of large, complex commercial negotiations.
  • Proven success managing enterprise‑scale renewals, including multi‑year, multimillion dollar solution customer portfolios.
  • Strong experience negotiating with executive‑level stakeholders and navigating complex procurement, legal, and financial processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional deal teams and influence without authority.
  • Experience operating in consultative or solution‑selling environments.
  • Familiarity selling into nonprofit, education, or mission‑driven organizations is strongly preferred.
  • Comfort managing ambiguity, renewal risk, and competitive dynamics in high‑stakes environments.

Why This Role Matters

This role directly protects and grows Blackbaud’s most significant customer relationships and generates outsized revenue impact. Strategic Renewals Account Executives often contribute more revenue per head than traditional enterprise sales roles, making this position critical to Blackbaud’s long‑term success.
