Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Sourcing, the Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for the procurement and strategic management of paper commodities across DFIN. This role drives cost savings, supplier performance, and operational excellence by overseeing the paper supplier portfolio, negotiating contracts, and leading cross-functional initiatives. The Specialist will play a key role in shaping sourcing strategies, optimizing supply chain processes, and supporting DFIN's commitment to quality, compliance, and sustainability.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, negotiate, and manage supplier agreements for paper, ensuring alignment with DFIN's business objectives and compliance standards.• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to drive cost reductions, secure long-term partnerships, and enhance supply chain stability.• Lead cross-functional sourcing projects, collaborating with teams across procurement, operations, and finance to deliver paper on time for critical press dates and production schedules.• Monitor and manage paper inventories at multiple supplier and warehouse locations, minimizing aging, value loss, and storage costs.• Conduct thorough RFP processes, supplier selection, and benchmarking to achieve cost targets and strategic goals.• Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and commodity risks to identify opportunities for efficiency gains and innovation.• Ensure all procurement activities comply with DFIN's policies, procedures, and contract management standards.• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of paper industry best practices, sustainability requirements, and supplier certifications (e.g., FSC, SFI/PEFC).• Support continuous improvement initiatives and provide actionable insights to enhance sourcing strategies and business operations.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field; or equivalent experience.• 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, paper sourcing, or supply chain management.• In-depth knowledge of the printing and paper industries, including paper manufacturing and paper mathematics.• Proven track record in supplier relationship management and contract negotiation.• Strong understanding of legal terminology, contract language, and contract redlining.• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred.• Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to develop business cases and identify sourcing opportunities.• Excellent project management, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.• Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with a creative approach to achieving optimal results.• Proficiency in Excel and MS Office Suite.• Commitment to sustainability and compliance with supplier certification requirements.
