About the Role:

The Substitute Teacher plays a critical role in maintaining continuity of instruction and classroom management in the absence of the regular teacher. The substitute teacher is responsible for delivering lesson plans, managing student behavior, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere. Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in education or related field is preferred.
• Valid substitute teaching certification or licensure as required by the state of employment.
• Demonstrated experience or coursework in elementary education or teaching.
• Basic proficiency in classroom management and instructional techniques.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students and staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with students requiring special education services.
• Knowledge of sign language to support communication with hearing-impaired students.

Responsibilities:

• Implement daily lesson plans provided by the regular teacher or develop appropriate instructional activities when plans are unavailable.
• Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
• Record and maintain accurate student attendance and performance records.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of students with diverse learning abilities, including those requiring special education services.
• Communicate effectively with students, school staff, and administration regarding classroom activities and any issues that arise during the school day.
