Position SummarySun Com Mobile is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Tax Staff Accountant to join our Finance team in Sugar Land, Texas. This role plays a key part in supporting tax compliance, financial reporting, and accounting operations across a multi-location retail organization.
The Tax Staff Accountant will assist with sales and use tax filings, month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and tax-related reporting, while working closely with finance and operational teams to ensure accurate financial data and regulatory compliance.
This position offers strong exposure to multi-state tax environments, large financial datasets, and opportunities for professional growth within the accounting and finance organization.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with preparation and filing of multi-state sales and use tax returns.
Maintain organized documentation supporting tax filings and compliance requirements.
Perform monthly reconciliations for tax-related and general ledger accounts.
Support month-end close activities related to expense and tax accounts.
Analyze transactional data to ensure accurate tax reporting.
Assist in preparing schedules and documentation for audits and regulatory inquiries.
Identify opportunities to improve tax reporting processes through data analysis and automation tools.
Partner with accounting and operational teams to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
1--3 years of accounting or tax experience (public accounting or industry preferred).
Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Experience with sales and use tax or multi-state tax environments is a plus.
Experience with ERP or accounting systems preferred.
