Supervises the activities of the Market Intelligence and Strategy team. Develops ERCOT’s business plans for researching, designing and modeling enhancements to the ERCOT electricity market, including wholesale and retail market segments. Oversees and directs the modeling of potential market design features that lead to the functional and architectural development of the market. Manages and delegates tasks to ensure support of operating personnel, market participants, the Independent Market Monitor, and PUCT.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES

  • Reviews and approves time-off and leave requests
  • Schedules work and provides real-time feedback on employee performance
  • Provides on-the-job training and coaching to employees and supports day-to-day operations
  • Develops and maintains working knowledge of the ERCOT electricity market, including wholesale and retail market segments
  • Collaborates with peers in Commercial Operations, including Market Analysis & Validation, to analyze Market behavior and outcomes
  • Supports organizational advocacy for change, recognizing both potential issues and future opportunities through market evolution, 
    in market rules or broader sector policies to a range of stakeholders
  • Reviews presentation materials generated by other Analysts for Market Participants, the Board of Directors, the Public Utility Commission, 
    and other external audiences, including the general public
  • Attends business meetings and collaborates with colleagues to develop “best practices” policies and procedures, and to identify and resolve 
    issues to help create a flexible and efficient organization
  • Gathers requirements and specifications to build business models
  • Creates and oversees the creation of reports and presentations
  • Manages the creation of processes and procedures for evaluation, analysis, validation, and dispute resolution
  • Develops data management controls and reports
  • Tracks and maintains change requests for compliance and audit purposes
  • Studies existing information to evaluate effectiveness and develops new methods
  • Proposes and reviews new solutions for data acquisition, reporting, and presentation
  • Identifies and documents risks or issues and escalates to Manager

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Requires minimum 5 years job related work experience and 1 year in a leadership role preferred in excess of degree requirements. Minimum years of job-related experience can include time in leadership roles if applicable.
  • Requires experience in the electric utility industry, with a preference for experience in a North American ISO/RTO.
  • Requires experience in developing strategic communications products such as reports, presentations, and other publications intended to both inform and strategically influence the intended audience towards a desired outcome.
  • Requires proven experience in both informative and persuasive public speaking to internal and external audiences, across a range of technical complexity.
  • Requires proven computer skills on common business applications such as the Microsoft Office suite and in data querying and management environments.
  • Previous experience in off-the-shelf computer applications such as PLEXOS, UPLAN, SERVM, or other power system economic modeling tools preferred.
  • Previous experience in programming language environments such as Python, Anaconda, or SAS preferred.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree: Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science, Science, or related discipline (Required)
  • or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required

WORK LOCATION – Taylor, TX:

  • Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at a minimum of 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management
  • On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager
  • Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.  
  • Employees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the time

Expected Salary Range:

$131,064 - $222,775
