The Senior Vice President of Software Engineering & Transformation provides strategic leadership for the Bank’s enterprise technology transformation agenda, advancement and adoption of artificial intelligence, application development, and emerging technology capabilities. This executive is responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and delivering transformational opportunities that leverage AI, automation, modern engineering practices, and strategic technology partnerships to improve client experience, operational efficiency, resiliency, and business outcomes.

    Essential functions of the role:

    Software Engineering Enablement

    • Develop and drive adoption of modern software engineering practices such as CI/CD, DevSecOps, automation, AI-assisted development, and cloud-native development capabilities.
    • Partner with business and technology leaders through Software Engineering Center of Excellence to establish shared standards, practices, and capabilities that accelerate responsible software delivery.
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve delivery velocity, quality, scalability, and developer experience through modern engineering and AI-enabled capabilities.
    • Enable teams to evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, including AI, while maintaining appropriate security, governance, and architectural alignment.
    • Collaborate with enterprise and solution architects to establish reusable patterns, reference architectures, and technology standards and modern development capabilities.
    • Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities for customer facing digital products and software capabilities that enhance experience, improve efficiency, and support business growth.

    Enterprise AI & Innovation Strategy

    • Lead the identification, prioritization, and delivery of AI and agentic AI solutions that improve employee productivity, customer experience, operational effectiveness, and revenue growth.
    • Identify, prioritize, and implement agentic AI solutions that create measurable business value, enhance customer experiences, and improve employee productivity.
    • Partner with Technology, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Data leaders to ensure AI solutions align with established governance, security, risk management, and responsible AI standards.
    • Build organizational understanding and adoption of AI through education, enablement, and change management.

    Transformation Leadership & Execution

    • Lead enterprise technology transformation initiatives from strategy through execution, ensuring alignment with business objectives and measurable outcomes.
    • Partner with executive leaders to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and modernization.
    • Partner with external business partners and internal teams to identify, evaluate, and prioritize opportunities for custom software development, platform extensions, automation, and AI-enabled solutions.
    • Establish transformation methodologies, prioritization frameworks, and reporting mechanisms to drive accountability and transparency.
    • Partner with technology leaders, engineers, and architects to drive modernization initiatives aligned with enterprise architecture standards and the strategic technology roadmap, enhancing scalability, resiliency, security, operational efficiency, and business agility.
    • Remove organizational barriers and enable cross-functional collaboration across Technology and business teams.
    • Identify opportunities to simplify technology environments, modernize legacy platforms, and reduce technical complexity.
    • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and customer-focused problem solving.

    Executive Leadership & Partnership

    • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CTO, executive leadership team, and business leaders on emerging technology opportunities and transformation strategies.
    • Build strong partnerships across business lines, ensuring technology investments deliver meaningful business value.
    • Recruit, develop and lead high-performing teams through coaching, talent development, and organizational growth.
    • Represent the Bank externally with technology partners, industry groups, and innovation communities.
    • Other duties as assigned within the scope and responsibility of the job
      Requirements
      • 10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience spanning enterprise transformation, software engineering, digital strategy, AI adoption, and emerging technologies.
      • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
      • Experience delivering AI-enabled products and capabilities, cloud technologies, modern software engineering practices, automation, and enterprise technology platforms.
      • Proven success in developing and executing technology strategies and leading large-scale modernization and organizational change within complex, regulated environments, with measurable business outcomes.
      • Demonstrated ability to drive delivery at pace through clear prioritization, decisive leadership, rapid decision-making, barrier removal, and accountability.
      • Experience evaluating build-versus-buy decisions and effectively leveraging strategic technology partners, platforms, and ecosystem capabilities.
      • Strong executive presence, strategic thinking, communication, change leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across business and technology organizations.
      • Relevant professional certifications preferred, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, TOGAF, SAFe, PMP, ITIL, or recognized AI/ML certifications.
