What will your job look like?

The Talent Acquisition & Employee Engagement Specialist is responsible for leading full-cycle recruitment efforts for hourly operational positions while supporting employee engagement, onboarding, workforce initiatives, and select human resources administrative functions. This role serves as a key partner to Operations, Training, Safety, and Human Resources by attracting top talent, enhancing the employee experience, supporting employee recognition programs, and helping foster a positive, inclusive, and engaged workplace culture.

The Talent Acquisition & Employee Engagement Specialist acts as an MTM Transit brand ambassador within the community and throughout the employee lifecycle, building relationships that support recruitment, employee retention, and organizational success. This role is onsite full-time at the assigned MTM Transit location.

This position will be on site daily in our Austin, Texas location

What you’ll do:

Talent Acquisition
  • Lead the full lifecycle recruitment process for hourly operational positions, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer management, and onboarding support

  • Manage job postings and candidate pipelines through approved recruitment platforms

  • Conduct candidate screenings and interviews to identify qualified talent

  • Meet with walk-in applicants and provide information regarding employment opportunities

  • Coordinate pre-employment activities, including background checks, reference checks, offer letters, and start date confirmations

  • Maintain accurate employee records and personnel documentation within Workday and other HR systems

  • Process new hires, promotions, organizational changes, and other employment transactions in a timely and accurate manner

  • Plan, coordinate, and participate in job fairs, hiring events, and community outreach activities

  • Partner with operational leaders to understand workforce needs and staffing challenges

  • Provide exceptional customer service and candidate care throughout the recruitment process

  • Maintain recruiting metrics and support achievement of established hiring goals and key performance indicators

Community Outreach & Employer Branding

  • Represent MTM Transit at community events and networking opportunities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local workforce agencies, educational institutions, community organizations, and referral sources to build candidate pipelines

  • Support local initiatives that strengthen MTM Transit’s presence within the communities served

Employee Engagement & CultureS

  • Support onboarding activities to ensure a welcoming and positive new hire experience

  • Coordinate employee engagement, employee appreciation, and recognition programs to support a positive workplace culture

  • Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities that improve employee morale, retention, and overall experience

  • Support implementation of employee feedback initiatives and engagement strategies

Additional Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to improve recruiting, onboarding, engagement, and administrative processes.

  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate workforce data

  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support operational objectives

  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll need:

Experience, Education & Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in Talent Acquisition/Recruiting

  • Experience utilizing HRIS systems, workday preferred

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Skills:

  • Strong recruiting and talent acquisition expertise

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to engage effectively with candidates, employees, leadership, and community partners

  • Strong organizational and project coordination abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent customer service orientation

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated professionalism and sound judgment

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately

  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments

Even Better If You Have:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or related field, preferred

  • Experience coordinating employee events, engagement programs, onboarding activities, or HR administration, preferred

  • Experience supporting multiple HR functions in a fast-paced environment, preferred

  • Previous Workday experience, strongly preferred

Salary Min: $65,000

Salary Max: $70,000
