As a Tax Renewals & Exemptions Specialist on the Regulatory & Tax Compliance Operations Team, you will be responsible for managing annual business tax and license renewals, coordinating tax exemption requests and documentation, tracking filing deadlines, and supporting client tax compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions. This role also provides support with tax registrations and account maintenance as workload permits.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit annual business tax and license renewals while researching applicable state and local jurisdiction requirements.
- Manage tax exemption requests, applications, certificates, supporting documentation, and related renewal requirements.
- Track renewal and exemption deadlines, monitor outstanding items, and maintain internal status reporting through completion.
- Communicate with clients to obtain required information, documentation, approvals, and other filing requirements.
- Coordinate with state and local taxing authorities regarding pending applications, approvals, rejected submissions, and missing documentation.
- Maintain accurate client account records and support tax registrations, account updates, and account closures as workload permits.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience in tax compliance, business licensing, renewals, exemptions, registrations, or related administrative support preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and follow assignments through completion.
- Strong research, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, and PDF Exchange Editor or Adobe.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with state and local taxing authorities and online agency portals preferred.
- Experience with telecom or indirect tax compliance is a plus.
