About Carry

Carry is on a mission to help our customers grow wealth through smart strategies, tax-advantaged investing, and personalized planning. We started with the Solo 401(k) for self-employed business owners and are rapidly expanding our suite of products across investing and tax.

Investing and tax can be opaque and confusing. We believe everyone deserves the same level of strategy, automation, and opportunity—and are building the tools to make that happen.

Why Join Us?

We're a small, focused team building real products that help people gain control of their finances. We value high ownership, fast iteration, and working directly with customers. If you're passionate about building financial tools that actually work, this is your place.

About the Role

We're looking for a Tax Strategist to be our in-house expert on all things tax. You'll shape how we think about tax optimization, guide product development, and ensure what we build actually works for real people.

This role is perfect for a CPA or EA who's more excited about finding tax savings than filing returns—and wants to turn that knowledge into software.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as Carry's tax authority—the person who can answer "can we do this?" and "should we?"

  • Identify tax strategies worth productizing and help prioritize our roadmap

  • Work closely with product and engineering to spec out tax logic and validate implementations

  • Stay current on tax law and translate changes into opportunities for our customers

  • Help with client-facing tax questions as needed

What We're Looking For

  • CPA, Enrolled Agent, or Attorney

  • 2-6 years of experience with exposure to individual and small business tax planning (not just compliance)

  • You think about tax optimization, not just tax preparation

  • Product-minded and execution-focused

  • Comfortable in a startup environment—you'll be building process, not following it

  • Experience at a fintech, tax software company, or planning-focused firm

  • Familiarity with retirement accounts (401(k)s, IRAs), investment taxation, or small business entity planning

Compensation

  • Salary: $110,000 - $125,000

  • Equity: Generous equity package

  • Benefits: Competitive health, dental, and vision benefits, paid time off, 401(K) match, and other benefits
