🎭 Role & TeamWe’re looking to hire a Team Lead – Migration Solutions to lead and scale our customer onboarding. You’ll manage a team of Implementation Data Specialists responsible for moving customer data from legacy systems into gaiia accurately. Scaling customer onboarding is crucial to gaiia’s success, and your team will be at the center of it.
This is a player-coach role: you’ll set the strategy, standards, and operating rhythm for migrations, while staying close to delivery and being hands-on for migrations. You’ll partner closely with customers, business stakeholders, and gaiia’s engineering team.
You’ll be accountable for creating a smooth, predictable migration experience for customers and for internal implementation teams, while continuously improving how we scope, execute, validate, and productize migrations over time.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Implementation Data Specialists: onboarding, mentorship, feedback, and creating a high-ownership culture.
- Lead migration solutioning: evaluate requirements, design migration approaches, and propose solutions that balance customer needs with gaiia’s platform capabilities.
- Own the migration process end-to-end: intake, scoping, estimation, prioritization, capacity planning, timelines, and execution across multiple customer implementations.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to assess the existing data environment: structures, data sources, volumes, quality, and special requirements.
- Partner with gaiia’s engineers (Migration Platform team) to extract and transform data from legacy systems: databases, spreadsheets, flat files, APIs, etc. Ensure the work is repeatable, documented, and scalable.
- Define and enforce data quality standards: mapping conventions, transformation logic, validation frameworks, reconciliation checks, and sign-off criteria.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT) related to data; ensure customers see data as expected and that issues are triaged quickly and systematically.
- Plan and execute cutover strategy: dry-run migration, go-live, and post-cutover monitoring.
- Produce and maintain documentation standards across the team: mapping specs, transformation rules, data anomalies, decision logs, and runbooks so future migrations are smoother.
- Drive continuous improvement and productization: identify patterns, build templates, recommend tooling/automation, and feed insights back to Product/Engineering.
- Communicate status, risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans to implementation stakeholders and clients with clarity and consistency.
- 3+ years of experience in data migration, data implementation, ETL or similar roles; customer-facing / B2B SaaS experience preferred.
- Strong project leadership: able to manage tasks, timelines, dependencies, deliverables, and planning across multiple streams of work.
- Excellent communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including customers, able to clarify ambiguity and drive decisions.
- High ownership: you see migrations through from start to end, and you build a solid implementation process for customers.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environments common with legacy systems: messy data, missing knowledge, evolving requirements.
- Familiarity with AI tools applied to data analysis & transformation.
- Ability to travel frequently in the US, to actively support our customers during their go-live.
- Experience creating test plans for both pre- and post-migration validation: data integrity checks, reconciliation, spot checks
- Experience migrating billing/operations data or working in telecom environments; knowledge of OSS/BSS concepts
- Coding & scripting skills, including knowledge of Typescript
