Position Summary

We are looking for a Technical Artist for one of our flagship titles at SciPlay.  This team member would be responsible for integrating art and UI into the Unity engine and then bringing it to life with dynamic animations and VFX. The candidate would be a part of the technical and creative team, helping to create exciting game features, captivating live-ops events and help re-invigorate the game UI with a clean, modern, and beautiful aesthetic. 

Technical artists collaborate closely with the Technical Art Lead to adhere to adaptive and responsive UI best practices and deliver the highest quality motion graphics.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement game feature and live-ops UX/UI art and design into the Unity engine.
  • Implement UI components into Unity, using Rect Transform Anchoring to ensure optimal UX adaptive/responsive layouts in both landscape and portrait layouts.
  • Create Unity animations for both UI elements and 2D characters.
  • Create vfx using Unity’s native Shuriken particle system.
  • Communicate between engineers, designers and any non-technical artist to understand game feature requirements and bring game events to life.
  • Help manage asset bundles, optimizing for size, compression, texture atlasing and overall file organization.
  • Adhere to and enforce established file structure and naming conventions.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience using Unity for mobile game development
  • Strong understanding of Unity’s UI system, animation controllers, particle system, shaders and materials, with experience optimizing and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent 2D & 3D UI, character and VFX animation experience
  • Proficient in Photoshop
  • Working knowledge of production tools (Jira, Confluence, Stash/Git, Jenkins)
  • Working knowledge of asset management and version systems
  • Experience in live game development, especially regarding Unity’s Asset Bundling system and cadenced releases
  • Proactive with remote communication and collaboration
  • Experience in C# or scripting languages is a plus
  • Experience in Blender is a plus.
