About Fonzi AI

We're a Series A startup backed by Lightspeed revolutionizing hiring through AI. Founded by repeat entrepreneurs (Kumospace), we launched our AI-powered recruiting marketplace in June 2025 and have just under 100 employer partners (with over 75% AI-native companies). We run Match Days every week where pre-screened elite engineers receive competing offers from innovative companies, pre-seed to Series D, across NYC and SF.

Our mission is to build the infrastructure where AI learns what engineers actually do and what they want and matches them to opportunities automatically. We're building the future where intelligent systems handle the entire recruiting workflow so that the humans in the loop can focus on making meaningful connections between elite engineers and the companies shaping what comes next.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a creative, community-embedded Technical Sourcer to join our team on a contract basis. This is not a high-volume, boolean-string role. Instead, we’re looking for someone obsessed with conversion, who thinks unconventionally about how to reach the right engineers, and is genuinely embedded in the communities where venture-backed technical talent lives.

Your Mission

As our Technical Sourcer, you'll be instrumental in:

  • Building candidate pipelines using Social, LinkedIn, Events, and other sourcing channels

  • Building presence in the engineering, AI, and startup communities where top engineers spend their time, such as X, Discord, Reddit, and events

  • Developing and experimenting with creative sourcing and re-engagement strategies that prioritize quality and conversion

  • Crafting personalized outreach and managing engagement through Gem

  • Collaborating closely with the recruiting team to understand ideal candidate profiles

  • Maintaining an organized ATS of candidates in pipeline

  • Staying sharp on industry trends, technologies, and the evolving AI startup landscape

  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of our sourcing processes and conversion

Key Qualifications
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in technical sourcing in startup, high-growth, or recruiting agency environments, with a strong understanding of software engineering roles and the current AI and tech landscape

  • Proven track record building high-quality candidate pipelines, with the ability to speak concretely to where you found candidates and what your conversion rates looked like

  • Genuinely embedded in engineering and startup communities online and in person, not just on LinkedIn

  • A history of experimenting with different sourcing channels and re-engagement approaches, and iterating based on results

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a comfort working independently across multiple priorities

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered

Contract Details
  • Duration: 3–6 months, with potential for extension

  • Location: Remote, NY Preferred

  • Hours: 40 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate startup schedules

  • Hourly Rate: $35 - 40/hr

Why Fonzi AI?

Fonzi is on a mission to transform how engineers and startups find each other. We’re building an AI recruiter that frees the people on our team to do what no model can: make meaningful connections, make real impacts on careers, and build trust on both sides of the table.

  • You'll be at the frontier. Every engineer you source ends up in front of AI-native startups and scaleups building some of the most interesting products being shipped right now. You’ll be exposed to a diverse range of innovative companies, from pre-seed to Series D, across NYC and SF.

  • The team is small and impactful. We move fast, think creatively, and genuinely care about doing recruiting better. You'll engage with the full pipeline and see exactly how a category-defining talent company grows from the inside.

If you’re passionate about discovering top technical talent, driven by results, and excited about the startup ecosystem, we want to hear from you.

Fonzi AI values diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all team members. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences.
