Position Overview
SpryPoint is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team on a 12-month contract. As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation, including user guides and release notes. Your role will be critical in ensuring our customers can effectively utilize our products and stay informed about new features and updates.
🎯 Key Responsibilities:
- Create, update, and manage user guides, release notes, and other technical documentation to support SpryPoint’s product offerings.
- Ensure release notes are accurate, clear, and completed on time for every sprint, consistently meeting the bi-weekly deadlines.
- Work closely with product managers, developers, and customer support teams to gather information and understand the intricacies of our products.
- Convert complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand content for end-users with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Ensure that all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and consistent with SpryPoint’s style and branding guidelines.
- Review and edit documentation created by other team members to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to the company’s standards.
- Establish and maintain templates, guidelines, and best practices for technical documentation.
- Collect and incorporate feedback from users and stakeholders to continuously improve documentation quality and relevance.
🚀 Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in a software or technology-related environment. Experience with Customer Information Systems, Work and Asset Management, or Customer Self-Serve applications would be beneficial. Experience in the Utilities Industry is helpful, but not required.
- Strong understanding of software development processes and ability to comprehend technical concepts quickly.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency with documentation tools such as GoogleDocs, Snagit, Microsoft Word, or similar software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field is desirable; however, equivalent real-world experience with technical writing for a software company is also welcome.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Familiarity with Agile development practices and experience in writing documentation in an Agile environment.
- Basic knowledge of graphic design tools to create visuals or diagrams that enhance documentation would be nice to have.
