Join the Tilt team

At Tilt, we see a side of people that traditional lenders miss. Our mobile-first products and machine learning-powered credit models look beyond credit scores, using over 250 real-time financial signals to recognize real potential. Named among the next billion-dollar startups, we're not just changing how people access financial products — we're creating a new credit system that backs the working, whatever they're working toward.

The opportunity: Technical Writer / AI Context Specialist (Contract)

Tilt is hiring for a 6 month contract role to join our Business Intelligence team and help build the foundation of context management for our AI systems. You’ll turn complex product and data knowledge into crisp, reusable documentation (eg column-level meanings, relationships, constraints, value ranges) that powers analytics and AI use cases. This role is a strong fit for an experienced technical writer with a passion for AI, who brings structured thinking and editorial precision to complex data.

Please include a link to your portfolio with your application.

How you'll make an impact
  • Create and manage AI context files, AI configuration docs, and instructions for internally facing AI analytics tools.

  • Establish a framework for evaluating changes to AI content, context, and instruction sets on output accuracy and ease of use

  • Update, edit, and revise AI context based on outcomes and feedback.

  • Establish a context management framework: templates, style guides, versioning, and review workflows for AI- and BI-ready documentation

  • Partner cross-functionally with both technical and customer-facing teams to capture how products work from a customer perspective and translate that into precise data context

  • Document and operationalize canonical metrics and source-of-truth tables by coordinating with metric owners; clarify relationships across datasets and services

  • Audit existing docs and dashboards for accuracy and consistency; flag issues and coordinate corrections and deprecations

Why you're a great fit
  • Experience with an internal or customer facing AI project/s in deployment, configuration, testing, or delivery. You can talk to examples of AI accelerating business decisions, creating better solutions for customers and/or drive efficiencies

  • 3-5 years of technical writing experience in software/data environments, with a track record of independently driving docs from discovery through publication

  • Ability to simplify complex concepts, enforcing consistency and elevating clarity - comfortably editing beyond AI-generated drafts

  • Strong stakeholder-management skills; able to synthesize input from PMs, engineers, and customer-facing teams

  • Deep interest in AI and how high-quality context improves AI/analytics outcomes; you use AI tools but apply sound editorial judgment

  • Organized and detail-oriented; you operate independently day-to-day with clear goals, regular check-ins, and crisp communication

Our Interview Process
  1. Initial recruiter call: A conversation to learn about your experience and what you're looking for in your next role.

  2. Hiring manager interview: A deeper discussion about your background and approach to solving challenges.

  3. Skills panel: Separately, run through a writing sample with the hiring manager, and meet with 2 Tilt team members to discuss your expertise and problem-solving approach through real-world scenarios.

  4. LT Interview: Final interview with our CFO.

Don’t meet every qualification? We care about potential over your past. If you're bringing ambition and drive to what we're building, we want to hear from you.

What you'll get at Tilt
  • Virtual-first teamwork: The Tilt team is collaborating across 14 countries, 12 time zones, and counting. You’ll get started with a WFH office reimbursement.

  • Competitive pay: We're big on potential, and it's reflected in our competitive compensation packages and generous equity.

  • Complete support: Find flexible health plans at every premium level, and substantial subsidies that stand up to global standards.

  • Visibility is yours: You can count on direct exposure to our leadership team — we’re a team where good ideas travel quickly.

  • Paid global onsites: Magic happens IRL: we gather twice yearly to reconnect over shared meals or kayaking adventures. (We’ve visited Vail, San Diego, and Mexico City, to name a few.)

  • Impact is recognized: Growth opportunities follow your contributions, not rigid promotion timelines.

The Tilt Way

We're looking for people who chase excellence and impact. Those who stand behind their work, celebrating the wins and learning from the missteps equally. We foster an environment where every voice is valued and mutual respect is non-negotiable — brilliant jerks need not apply. We're in this together, working to expand access to fair credit and prove that people are incredible. When you join us, it's not just another day at the [virtual] office, you're helping millions of hardworking people reach better financial futures.

You’re pushing ahead in your career? We can get behind that. Join us in building the credit system that people deserve.
