SUMMARY

We are looking for a strategic, highly technical Director of Business Systems to serve as the "Air Traffic Controller" for our end-to-end commerce architecture. In this role, you will act as a peer to our Director of IT, taking ownership of the connective tissue between our core systems (Shopify, NetSuite, RF-Smart, WFX PLM). We are a high-growth omnichannel retail brand that values lean, agile operations over bloated internal development. Your mandate is to leverage best-in-class SaaS platforms, build robust iPaaS middleware, and ensure our interconnected systems scale flawlessly without unnecessary headcount.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Architecture and Middleware

  • Own the overarching strategy for how data flows across our retail, finance, and supply chain ecosystems. Evaluate, select, and manage best-in-class micro-SaaS and middleware solutions (Celigo, Workato) rather than relying on custom-built legacy code.
  • Systems Optimization: Lead the strategic unwinding of legacy dependencies and modernize our Order Management System (OMS) capabilities.
  • Omnichannel Growth: Ensure the technology stack scales seamlessly with aggressive retail store expansion, supporting complex inventory logic, omnichannel fulfillment (including BOPIS), and post-purchase workflows (Returns and Warranty).

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Finance Partnership: Act as the primary strategic partner to the Finance department. Ensure the ERP (NetSuite) is architected to deliver flawless automated GL mapping, revenue recognition, and month-end reconciliation.
  • Operations Partnership: Partner with Supply Chain and Retail Operations to optimize the WMS (RF-Smart) and Product Lifecycle Management (WFX) systems.

Team Leadership and Vendor Management

  • Lean Department Building: Manage and mentor a highly targeted team of elite individual contributors, starting with a dedicated NetSuite Administrator / Integrations Engineer.
  • Vendor Accountability: Own the relationships, contract negotiations, and SLAs with our third-party software partners and system integrators, ensuring maximum ROI and rapid execution.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in Retail Technology, E-commerce Operations, or Business Systems Architecture. 3+ years in a leadership capacity.
  • Tech Stack Mastery: Deep architectural understanding of our core stack: NetSuite, Shopify Plus, and modern iPaaS middleware (Celigo, Boomi, or Workato).
  • Operational Philosophy: A strong "buy and integrate" mindset. You prefer leveraging APIs and specialized SaaS tools over building massive, costly internal engineering teams.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of retail accounting, inventory valuation, and how commerce data impacts the general ledger.
  • Execution Focus: Proven ability to move quickly, prioritize 90% solutions that maintain business velocity, and manage technical debt effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be over the age of 18
  • Ability to be flexible to the needs of the business
  • Ability to work full time hours and adapt to business needs

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in apparel, jewelry/accessories, or high-growth omnichannel retail.
  • Previous experience migrating or heavily optimizing an OMS / distributed order management framework

COMPETENCIES:
