Atlas Advisors LLC is seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on Temporary Staff Accountant to assist our CFO with a specific, project-based accounting cleanup. Our current processes involve significant manual work and complex historical details. This role is strictly project-based and will conclude once the accounting backlog is fully resolved.

This is a junior-level role best suited for someone who is eager to dig into transactional details, untangle manual data, and support fundamental accounting tasks. The ideal candidate must have a solid grasp of basic P&L and Balance Sheet principles and a strong willingness to roll up their sleeves to solve operational backlogs.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting Backlog & Reconciliations
  • Assist the CFO in reviewing, matching, and reconciling historical general ledger accounts, focusing on Balance Sheet and P&L line items.

  • Research transactional discrepancies, missing documentation, and un-reconciled balances across manual spreadsheets and system logs.

  • Perform routine subledger-to-general ledger reconciliations (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bank accounts).

  • Key in, organize, and clean up historical accounting entries to bring financial records up to date.

General Accounting Operations
  • Support daily transactional processing as needed to keep current operations moving while clearing the backlog.

  • Enter, verify, and code vendor invoices, expense reports, and customer billing data.

  • Maintain organized digital audit trails and electronic filing for all reconciled transactions.

  • Gather supporting documentation for financial schedules and routine reporting as directed by the CFO.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Detail-Oriented & Hands-On: Absolute willingness to dive deep into granular transactional details, troubleshoot manual process errors, and work through complex spreadsheets.

  • Core Accounting Fundamentals: Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, general ledger structures, and how transactions impact the P&L and Balance Sheet.

  • Software & Excel Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, basic pivot tables, data sorting/filtering, and formula building).

  • Work Ethic & Focus: Ability to follow direction closely, work independently on repetitive or detailed tasks, and ask clarifying questions when encountering anomalies.

  • Role Understanding: Clear understanding that this is a temporary, contract-based position that will end when the backlog project is complete.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience: 1–3 years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience.

  • Software Experience: Prior experience with Deltek Costpoint is strongly preferred (experience with Unanet or other ERP systems is also a plus).

  • Industry Background: Previous exposure to government contracting environments is preferred, but not required.

  • Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or coursework toward a degree (relevant practical experience will be considered in lieu of a degree).

Work Type

This is a temporary, project-based 1099 contract position. The contractor is guaranteed 20 hours per week, with the potential to scale up to 40 hours per week based on accounting backlog volume and business needs. This position is fully remote and will conclude once the accounting backlog has been resolved.
