What's the Short Version?

A Territory Manager is accountable for strategizing and effecting business objectives geared toward increasing profitability through targeted and efficient account planning and execution. They sell, develop, and manage business relationships with high profile, high potential accounts with a focus on growth and profitability. Preferred area of residence is within Upstate NY, Western MA, or VT territory.


What Will You Be Doing?

  • Develop and deliver focused presentations and follow-up with individuals, small and large groups, as well as sales team.
  • Demonstrate strategic planning and execution through proper scheduling and documenting in our CRM; utilize reports and tools provided and meet planning expectations.
  • Investigate and explore customer’s opportunities and challenges through effective questioning and active listening; establish an identified need; propose relevant solutions.
  • Effective pre-planning development of action plans and schedules to maintain customer relationships.
  • Navigate efficiently through internal customer database; locate and document customer information.
  • Negotiate, structure, and close complex opportunities with a focus on creating a win/win.
  • Sell SanMar’s value proposition effectively through targeted presentations and conversations.
  • Explain and demonstrate the features and benefits of SanMar’s marketing tools to external customers.
  • Plan air, car, hotel travel for thorough customer interaction and mitigation of company expenditure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience Preferred
  • 4-6 years of related sales experience
  • 1-3 years of industry sales experience is preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance, good driving record
  • Ability to analyze emerging business trends and determine viability of opportunities
  • Ability to build meaningful partnerships and communicate effectively with customers, sales team and internal departments to identify and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Assertive communicator with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Detail oriented; ability to follow-through on projects and handle multiple tasks at once
  • A high degree of professionalism, integrity, objectivity, and service orientation
  • Must be a leader, enthusiastic, energetic, “sales orientated” and outgoing
  • Exceptional organization, planning, and time-management skills
  • Flexibility to travel and relocate if needed
  • Ability to reside in the main metropolitan or comparable area of the St. Louis managed territory
  • Must be able to provide credit card for business expenses and allow for a 2-4 week reimbursement process

What Should You Expect?

Outside Sales: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, and stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work environment is moderately quiet. Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout building. Must be able to legally drive a vehicle during all types of driving conditions, including day and night driving.
