Main Purpose of the Role

Welocalize is looking for an English (en-US) into Traditional Chinese (zh-Hant) linguist with experience in the field of Marketing, UI and Support related documents.

This is an on-going freelance and remote position.

Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in Traditional Chinese (zh-Hant); knowledge of Simplified Chinese (zh-Hans) alone is not sufficient for this role.

*Please note that it is mandatory for the linguist to be physically based within a US-aligned timezone (including the US, Canada, Mexico, or South America); candidates working US hours from other regions will not be considered.

Location: Remote (US-aligned timezone)
Expected Volume: Approximately 1,000 to 2,000 words per week

REQUIREMENTS

  • Native or near‑native proficiency in Traditional Chinese (zh-Hant) with excellent command of US English
  • Proven experience editing, translating and proofreading English (en-US) to Traditional Chinese (zh-Hant) content
  • 3+ years of professional experience in translation with a degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field
    OR
  • 5+ years of professional translation experience without a formal translation degree
  • Demonstrated experience translating informational, marketing, UI, online help, legal and support content
  • Experience using CAT tools
  • Strong understanding of marketing tone, brand voice, and customer‑facing communication 
  • Excellent attention to detail, terminological consistency, and linguistic accuracy
  • Ability to deliver high‑quality translations while meeting deadlines
  • Flexible, reliable, and responsive in a fast‑paced localization environment 
  • Strong communication skills and openness to feedback and revisions
