Freese and Nichols is searching for a Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Planning team in one of our North Texas offices - Fort Worth, Dallas, or Frisco. This candidate will use their knowledge of the general concepts of civil, transportation, and traffic engineering in developing transportation design and planning solutions. 

Responsibilities:

  • The development and design of traffic engineering projects, preparing traffic studies, signal timing plans, operations analyses, microsimulation modeling, and preparing technical reports.

  • Preparing project plans and drawings for various projects including traffic signal design and intersection improvements. 

  • Perform research, obtain traffic data for studies, prepare calculations, and conduct transportation analyses.

  • Preparing and collaborating technical activities on assigned projects and managing project budget and schedule. 

  • Perform field work as directed by a senior engineer.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in civil or transportation engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Texas
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Basic experience using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, Synchro, VISSIM and TRANSCAD
  • Familiar with concepts and standards of the MUTCD, HCM and AASHTO Geometric Design
  • Ability to participate and collaborate within a project team setting
  • Self-directed and ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal oversight
  • Solid time and budget management, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) applications and design
