Your Opportunity 

Stantec is seeking a highly motivated, ambitious, Traffic Engineer (PE). The position will offer the opportunity to work on small and large high-profile roadway and highway projects. You will perform a variety of tasks that will require the application of sound principles and best practices.  

Your Key Responsibilities 

  • Projects include traffic signal system design and re-timing, operational analysis, roadway capacity analysis, traffic safety studies, traffic signal, signing, and pavement marking and design, street lighting / illumination design, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS).  
  • Prepare construction documents and cost estimates for City, County and State roadway and highway projects. 
  • Perform complex engineering design tasks per Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT’s) design standards. 
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate the technical aspects of assigned projects. 
  • Train developing staff on design and operational analysis software packages for traffic engineering projects.   
Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials 

  • Proficiency in Microstation and OpenRoads  
  • Proficiency in SIGN CAD, AGI-32 and micro-simulation modeling and operational analysis using SYNCHRO, SIMTRAFFIC, VISSIM, and HCS and other applicable Transportation Engineering Models. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, including writing technical reports and memos using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
  • Strong knowledge of the TxDOT design/planning procedures, and PS&E plan production 
  • Experience must include traffic operations and safety; highway capacity analysis; traffic operational analysis; Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD); designing and implementing traffic signal system timings; and preparing PS&E plans. 
  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgement, creativity, and innovation 
  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies 
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues and solutions to others 

 Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) minimum 
  • TX PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months 
  • Minimum of 5 years traffic engineering project experience 
  • TxDOT Precertification preferred

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
