Job Description

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing, directing, and accepting overall accountability for the travel team performance in support of the region, including the execution of the sales and service cultures across supported markets, and empowering customers to spend life wisely. Responsible for supporting operational compliance and internal controls, and compliance with all laws, regulations, and corporate policies by performing the following essential duties.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

Demonstrates and promotes high ethical standards and behaviors in accordance with the values of First United: knowing, living, and doing what’s right. Maintain expert level knowledge of all First United Bank products, services, procedures, policies and appropriate regulatory issues relating to daily job functions including but not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act; Privacy; Fair Lending; Regulation E; deposit, transaction and loan accounts. Availability for daily travel within the region and occasional travel outside of it. Builds internal and external relationships through exceptional problem resolution, ownership, and follow-through. Promotes teamwork, cooperation, and collaboration. Collaborates with other managers in a team setting to protect and deliver upon bank sales, service, and operational standards and policies for consistency in employee and customer experience among community banks. Master the Primary Purpose and Essential Duties of the Senior Relationship Banker, and Relationship Banker Roles. Serves as the interim manager fulfilling the role of Financial Center Manager and/or Senior Relationship Banker as required. Collaboration with the Community Bank President and the Regional Retail Manager is mandatory during these times. Leads by example and serves as a role model for retail teammates across the region. Demonstrates advanced product and sales knowledge of all retail and small business products including but not limited to cash management and electronic services. Observes and Participates in sales processes including behaviors during cross-selling at new account openings, lobby observations, customer profiling, target setting, and call preparation. Collaborates with the Regional Retail Manager, the Regional Trainer, the Preferred Partner Officer(s), Spend Life Wisely Ambassador(s) and the Financial Center Managers across the region to support staffing needs by priority. Actively participates in Regional Retail Leadership Meetings and Calls. Scales retail initiatives to provide guidance for the regional travel team with measurable KPI’s. Manages the hiring of non-officers onto the travel team, including assisting with application process, testing, and internal job posting. This may include assistance in an individual community bank. Facilitates on-boarding of new travel teammates, including completion of new-hire electronic paperwork, opening new payroll deposit account, initiation of technology/log-in set-up, and providing training opportunities. Manages travel team employees: training, coaching, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Conducts 1-2 Mock Audits (No Scores) per month with a goal of completing 1 for every community bank location per year.  Provide written feedback to the local retail leadership team, Community Bank President, the Regional Operations Manager, and the Regional Retail Manager. Conducts regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports. Attends periodic HR training and counsels employees regarding HR policies and procedures, including clocking in and out, vacation time, and dress code; reports major employee issues to the HR department. Represents the bank in the community by participating in 1-2 community bank sponsored functions per quarter. Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES

  • Observe day-to-day operations and provide timely feedback when on site
  • Maintain less than 5 total outstanding exceptions personally at all times
  • Conduct Quarterly Monitoring Check-in’s/Spot Checks for all Community Banks
  • Completes all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.
  • Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures.
  • Dresses professionally.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field is preferred.
  • One year relevant industry and management experience in banking or retail preferred.
