🚀 About Us

We’re Bolt.new by StackBlitz!

We’re the team that brought you WebContainers, the first-of-its-kind technology that made it possible to run Node.js right inside your browser. That breakthrough kicked off our journey in 2019, and it’s what powers the blazing-fast online IDE used by over 1 million developers every month.

But we didn’t stop there. We doubled down on everything we learned and built Bolt.new — the fastest way to go from idea to production without writing traditional code. It’s a next-gen, AI-powered app builder that helps you create, edit, and deploy full-stack web and mobile apps instantly, right in your browser. No installs. No setup. Just smart automation and instant dev environments that let you move at the speed of thought.

We’re a fully remote team, globally distributed, deeply collaborative, and seriously passionate about building the future of software development.

This is your chance to join a small team with a big vision. If you love shipping fast, solving real problems, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, we’d love to meet you.

✨ About This Opportunity

We’re looking for a thoughtful and technically-savvy Design Lead to shape the design direction of Bolt. You’ll lead our design team and work closely with product and engineering to build tools that our users love. You’ll be responsible for creating intuitive, elegant, and scalable design systems while mentoring designers and advocating for user-centered design across the company.

This role balances hands-on design work with strategic leadership. You’ll partner with engineering and product to ensure a cohesive experience across the platform, contribute directly to design efforts, and champion a culture of design excellence and pragmatic execution.

🛠️ How You'll Contribute
  • Define and elevate product design at Bolt: You’ll lead by example, setting the standard for clean, intuitive interfaces that reflect deep empathy for the non-technical user experience.
  • Shape product direction: Your input will influence early product decisions — from feature scope to user flow — ensuring that design is embedded from the start.
  • Bridge design and engineering: As a design lead reporting into the Head of Engineering, you’ll act as a critical connector between technical implementation and user experience, helping both sides speak the same language.
  • Grow a strong design culture: You’ll help define what great design looks like at Bolt — not just in pixels, but in process, feedback, and collaboration.
  • Mentor and develop your team: You’ll support talented product designers, helping them grow in their craft and take ownership of projects.
  • Drive consistency and quality: By evolving our design system and embedding design into our workflows, you’ll ensure that our product scales with clarity and coherence.
  • Champion users and usability: You’ll advocate for real user needs — running lightweight research, validating assumptions, and bringing insights into every product cycle.
💡 Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in product design, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or mentorship role.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience designing complex web applications or high-demand user-facing tools.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, technical environment with close cross-functional collaboration.
  • Deep understanding of UX principles, systems thinking, and modern design tools (e.g., Figma).
  • Experience contributing to or leading a design system.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to advocate for practical design in a technical organization.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills are required, as this role involves frequent collaboration with team members, stakeholders, and customers where English is the primary working language.
🎯 Bonus Points
  • Experience in designing for developer workflows, cloud infrastructure, and low-code/no-code platforms.
  • Experience in shaping AI tools and deep knowledge of the AI-powered builder tools landscape.
📌 A Few Notes
  • You do not need a college degree to apply

  • You do not need to be located in the U.S. — we’re remote-friendly

  • You do not need to meet every qualification listed above
