Job Description:

The Vice President, Advanced Planning is a client-facing role that serves as a financial planning and estate planning subject matter authority for Fidelity’s high net worth clients and their advisors. Depending on our client’s needs, the Advanced Planner can deliver point-in-time estate planning guidance and education or lead a more comprehensive financial and estate planning engagement. In addition, the role is supported by a Director, Advanced Planning and an Advanced Planning Analyst, and together as a team will support advanced planning client engagements throughout a geographic region. We primarily use video technology to function remotely in addition to meeting clients and advisors in investor centers across the region. We also collaborate within the Advanced Planning team both virtually and in-person to maintain and increase our collective impact on the clients we serve. Travel is typically expected between 5% and 20% of the time, depending on physical proximity to regional sites and investor centers. The role is remote but does requires residing within commuting distance to an Investor Center or Regional Center in state of Texas.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree with any of the following designations preferred: CPA, JD, M.T., LLM in taxation, CFA or CFP®
  • 13-15+  years overall work experience with 7+ years of trusts and estate planning, income tax planning or succession planning work experience within a public accounting, law practice, or wealth management industry environment
  • FINRA Series 7 and 66 obtained within 90-days of employment
  • Estate Planning, family wealth transfer planning, wills/trusts, income taxation, and trust and estate taxation knowledge (required)
  • Retirement, financial, investment, and insurance planning preferred
  • Experienced in working with business owners, start-ups/Pre IPO companies a plus
  • Works independently and able to lead an assigned territory to drive High Net Worth client engagements
  • Effectively coaches, develops, and applies junior team members
  • Thrives in a team environment to provide an exceptional client planning experience
  • Communicates complex subjects clearly and effectively
  • Emotional intelligence to successfully bond with and communicate with clients and their advisors
  • Possesses a solution-oriented, client-first work ethic
  • Works independently, balances tasks, and prioritizes work to maintain efficiency
  • Maintains a positive, professional demeanor, with a thoughtful approach to delivering successful customer outcomes

We are part of the Advanced Planning Leadership Development team collaborating with Fidelity’s advisors and their high-net-worth clients to provide a comprehensive financial planning experience that is tailored to each client’s unique financial goals and family dynamics

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
