Dive in and do the best work of your career at DigitalOcean. Journey alongside a strong community of top talent who are relentless in their drive to build the simplest scalable cloud. If you have a growth mindset, naturally like to think big and bold, and are energized by the fast-paced environment of a true industry disruptor, you’ll find your place here.  We value winning together—while learning, having fun, and making a profound difference for the dreamers and builders in the world.

We want people who are passionate about building features that you and your peers will love.

At DigitalOcean, we believe the cloud should be a springboard, not a barrier. As we enter the era of agentic AI, the complexity of infrastructure shouldn't stand in the way of innovation. We are looking for a visionary leader to own the evolution of our core compute platform—turning high-performance virtualization and specialized AI hardware into the "simple" experience our customers expect. This is a rare opportunity to architect the long-term roadmap for a global ecosystem that empowers millions of digital natives to build the future of AI.

The Role: We are looking for a Strategic Technical Visionary to lead the end-to-end architectural design of our next-generation compute infrastructure. Reporting to the SVP of IaaS, you will harmonize deep engineering systems design with product positioning and market-fit strategies for AI workloads and agentic inferencing.

What You’ll Do:
  • Define and execute the next-generation compute roadmap in order to provide digital-native customers with a seamless, high-performance environment for agentic inferencing and AI-heavy workloads.
  • Drive the long-term architectural strategy in order to ensure our IaaS layer remains scalable, resilient, and optimized for the unique demands of modern LLM deployment.
  • Lead a multi-layered engineering organization in order to cultivate a high-performance culture that balances rapid AI innovation with the rock-solid reliability of our core compute services.
  • Partner with Product and Marketing leadership in order to translate complex technical capabilities into a compelling market position that differentiates DigitalOcean in the AI infrastructure landscape.
  • Optimize global hypervisor and hardware efficiency in order to maintain our commitment to predictable pricing while scaling specialized AI compute resources.
  • Champion organizational agility and growth mindset in order to navigate the fast-moving AI sector and ensure our teams stay responsive to shifting developer needs.
  • Establish deep technical partnerships with silicon and hardware vendors in order to influence future hardware roadmaps and secure the best-in-class infrastructure for our users.
What You’ll Add:
  • Technical Breadth: A deep understanding of Large-Scale Distributed Systems, expertise in KVM/Virtualization and GPU orchestration, and a proven track record of architecting IaaS platforms specifically for AI/ML workloads.
  • The "Human" Element: Exceptional Cross-Functional Diplomacy. You can bridge the gap between deep-kernel engineering and high-level business strategy, making the complex simple for every stakeholder.
  • Growth Mindset: A desire to learn, an appetite for feedback, and a "leave it better than you found it" attitude.
Compensation Range:
  • $279,200.00 - $349,000
