Join our team as a visionary Director of Engineering, where you’ll lead cutting-edge projects and drive innovation across our engineering teams. You’ll play a pivotal role in defining the technical strategy and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions. Your leadership will be key in building a world-class engineering team and fostering a culture of excellence and growth. If you are a visionary leader with technical expertise in web, cloud and/or AI, a strong hands-on background, and the ability to inspire high-performing teams while driving strategic innovation and operational excellence, we would love to hear from you!

You will report to our CEO. Here’s a detailed breakdown of your responsibilities.

Your Responsibilities
  • Strategy: Spearhead the development and execution of technical and business strategies for our 'experience production' teams and 'platform development' teams. Your leadership will shape the future of our offerings, driving innovation and excellence.
  • Diversification: Propel the company's diversification towards new verticals and markets. Your strategic vision will play a crucial role in expanding our reach and influence in the tech landscape.
  • Leadership & Mentoring: Attract, retain, and develop top talent to build a world-class Engineering team. Leverage your leadership skills to shape career paths through mentorship and create a thriving environment for innovation and growth.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Oversee budgets and resource allocations, ensuring optimal use of company resources to achieve strategic objectives while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Quality Assurance: Uphold high standards in software quality and user experiences, guaranteeing that our products not only meet but also define industry benchmarks.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure the department runs smoothly, effectively, and sustainably, maintaining agility and resilience in a rapidly evolving tech environment.
  • Client Collaboration: Work closely with clients to align their needs with our technical and creative capabilities and business objectives, building strong, long-lasting relationships that drive mutual success.
  • Governance, Risk, and Compliance: Oversee governance, risk, and compliance efforts in collaboration with customers and other departments
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product, design, and other functions to deliver a premium end result, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Who we are looking for
  • Technical Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in managing web, cloud or AI projects, with advanced hands-on proficiency in one of these areas.
  • Hands-On Experience: A solid background as a software engineer, enabling you to guide teams with firsthand knowledge and understanding.
  • Leadership Excellence: 7+ years of experience in managing teams, including other managers, with a proven track record of building and inspiring high-performing teams and driving engineering success.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong background in budget and resource management, with the capability to optimise financial and human resources strategically.
  • Strategic Vision: A strategic thinker with the ability to balance speed and maturity in technical decisions. Your judgement in knowing when to move fast with limited information versus when to gather more data and research is impeccable.
  • Process Optimization: A knack for quickly streamlining processes, establishing, and maintaining clarity, and driving operational excellence.
  • Startup Experience: Experience in a start-up or fast-paced growth environment, where adaptability and innovation are key.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience working in the enterprise software and/or creative industries, understanding the nuances and demands of these dynamic fields.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences, fostering collaboration and understanding across diverse teams.

If you're a forward-thinking tech leader with a passion for pushing the boundaries of AI, we invite you to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our industry.
