Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Back-End Web Development Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship provides an educational opportunity to work on real-world projects, assisting in building and maintaining web-based applications. The role is primarily focused on back-end development, involving API integration, server management, and database design, while also gaining exposure to front-end technologies.

This internship is designed for educational purposes, providing training and mentorship for those aspiring to develop their skills in web development. The position is unpaid and complies with FLSA regulations for unpaid internships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of WordPress-based websites and web applications.

  • Work with REST APIs to integrate external data and services into web platforms.

  • Collaborate with front-end developers using React.js to ensure seamless integration of user interfaces with back-end functionality.

  • Manage and maintain server-side components, databases, and application logic.

  • Support troubleshooting and debugging to improve performance and functionality of web applications.

  • Participate in team meetings and provide regular updates on project progress.

  • Assist in developing technical documentation for code and processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with WordPress and custom theme/plugin development.

  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and working knowledge of API integration.

  • Basic knowledge of React.js and how it interacts with back-end services.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a remote setting.

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent self-study experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Node.js, Express.js, or similar back-end frameworks.

  • Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.

  • Knowledge of security best practices in web development.

  • Understanding of database management systems such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
