Women Who Code Austin: Lightning Learning, March 5 at 6:30 p.m.

Wanna learn about coding from a bunch of different perspectives at once? At this lightning learning session hosted by Women Who Code Austin, experienced coders and beginners alike will give short talks on cool things they’ve built, great tools they use and the hurdles they have overcome.

 

Alphalab Gear's 2018 Hardware Cup: Southern Regional, March 6 at 6 p.m.

Learn what’s on the horizon for the Austin tech hardware scene at this pitch competition hosted at Capital Factory. Six hardware startups will pitch their ideas to local investors for a shot at the Alphalab Gear Hardware Cup International Finals next month. The event is free, and food and refreshments will be provided.

 

ALL the Ladies in Tech Happy Hour: Spring Edition, March 6 at 6:30 p.m.

This quarterly happy hour and networking mixer for women is co-hosted by nearly a dozen local organizations and gives attendees the opportunity to meet other members of the Austin tech scene. The event's organizers have also partnered with Dress for Success Austin to host a resource drive, so feel free to bring any extra shoes, cosmetics, purses or toiletries you have to help women in need.

 

Jason Schklar: Drive "good enough" UX practices into game dev, March 8 at 7 p.m.

Not having a UX department is no excuse for shipping a product with poor user experience — particularly not in gaming. At this event, gaming industry veteran Jason Schklar will discuss a broad range of UX topics, from progression systems to social features, control responsiveness and load times.

 

GA + SXSW 2018 Workshops, March 10 at 11 a.m.

Co-hosted by General Assembly and SXSW, this free workshop offers two days of training in topics like web development, data science, UX design and product management. The workshop is open to anyone, regardless of whether or not they’re attending other SXSW events.
