Account Manager
Company: Hays Electrical Services
Location: Austin
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role

The Account Manager is a territory owner responsible for driving revenue growth, managing a portfolio of commercial and industrial electrical service accounts, and leading a team of five to ten service technicians across an assigned Texas market. This is a dual-role position requiring both a skilled salesperson and an operationally sharp service leader. Account Managers are responsible for new business development, customer retention, field operations, and territory profitability — from first contact through invoice collection.

We are building out to twelve Account Managers across five Texas territories (three to four per territory minimum) with a goal to be fully staffed in all markets simultaneously. This is a ground-floor opportunity to own a territory and grow within a rapidly expanding electrical services organization.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

• Prospect, qualify, and close new commercial and industrial electrical service accounts within assigned territory.

• Develop and execute a territory sales plan targeting manufacturing, food and beverage, aviation, and other industrial sectors.

• Conduct needs assessments, present service solutions, and negotiate contracts and pricing agreements.

• Maintain an active pipeline of leads and opportunities; manage forecasting through CRM.

• Attend industry events, trade shows, and association meetings to generate referrals and build market presence.

• Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities within the existing customer base.

Customer Relations & Account Management

• Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for all assigned accounts.

• Conduct regular on-site visits to maintain relationships and assess service performance.

• Resolve escalations, customer complaints, and service issues quickly and professionally.

• Negotiate contract renewals and service agreement expansions.

• Monitor customer satisfaction and proactively address any risk of churn.

Field Operations & Team Leadership

• Directly manage five to ten service technicians; oversee daily scheduling, dispatch, and workload allocation.

• Ensure all field work meets quality standards, safety requirements, and SLA commitments.

• Mentor, coach, and develop technicians; conduct performance reviews and set individual goals.

• Coordinate training, certifications, and compliance requirements for field staff.

• Collaborate with the AR department to ensure jobs are properly documented and billed.

Financial Accountability & Revenue Management

• Own territory revenue targets and maintain profitability at approved margins on all accounts and service work.

• Price jobs and contracts accurately; protect margin through disciplined quoting and scope management.

• Coordinate with Accounts Receivable to ensure invoices are accurate, submitted promptly, and collected on time.

• Monitor account payment status; actively follow up on outstanding balances and flag collection risks.

• Prepare and present monthly territory reports covering revenue, pipeline, and profitability performance.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 5 years of sales and account management experience in electrical services, industrial services, or a closely related trade.

• Hands-on electrical experience required — must understand electrical systems, maintenance, and service delivery at a working level.

• Proven ability to manage and develop a field team of five or more technicians.

• Demonstrated sales track record: new business acquisition, contract renewals, and account growth.

• Experience managing profitability and pricing in a service business environment.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

• Proficiency with CRM software and field service management tools.

• Valid Texas driver’s license; willingness to travel throughout assigned territory regularly.

Preferred

• Existing book of business or established customer relationships in Houston, San Antonio, Austin, San Marcos, or DFW.

• Experience selling into or servicing manufacturing, food and beverage, or aviation facilities.

• Electrical contractor license or TDLR electrician license (Texas).

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.

• Knowledge of NEC codes, OSHA electrical safety standards, and industrial electrical systems.

• Familiarity with service contract pricing, maintenance agreements, and labor rate structures.

Target Industry Sectors

Account Managers will develop and manage accounts across all the following sectors within their assigned territory:

• Manufacturing (general industrial, process, heavy equipment)

• Food & Beverage (processing facilities, cold storage, distribution centers)

• Aviation (airports, MRO facilities, hangars, FBOs)

• Commercial & Industrial (office complexes, warehouses, data centers)

• Other industrial sectors as identified within each territory

What We Offer

• Competitive base salary with uncapped commission structure.

• Performance bonuses tied to territory revenue and profitability goals.

• Company vehicle or vehicle allowance.

• Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits.

• 401(k) with company match.

• Generous PTO policy.

• Ongoing technical and sales training.

• Clear growth path to Regional Manager as territories expand.
