Overview – Accounting Advisory Senior / Supervisor (Not-for-Profit)

We are seeking an Accounting Advisory Senior / Supervisor (depending on experience) to support our growing Not-for-Profit (NFP) practice within CAAS (Client Accounting & Advisory Services). This role is responsible for delivering high-quality accounting and advisory services to nonprofit clients, with a focus on fund accounting, financial reporting, and operational support.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting, experience with nonprofit organizations, and the ability to support multiple client engagements. This individual will play a key role in executing client deliverables, improving processes, and providing actionable insights to help organizations operate more effectively.

 

At the Senior / Supervisor level, this role combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with increasing exposure to client communication, workflow management, and team support.

Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    • 3–6+ years of accounting experience, with exposure to nonprofit / fund accounting
    • Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
    • Familiarity with fund accounting concepts (restricted vs. unrestricted funds, grants, donor reporting)
      • Experience working in accounting systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raisers Edge, QuickBooks, Bill.com, Expensify, Concur, ADP, and/or Gusto

Responsibilities:

    • Support day-to-day accounting operations for nonprofit clients, including month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
      • Assist with fund accounting, including tracking restricted and unrestricted funds and supporting grant and donor reporting
      • Prepare and review financial reports for internal use and client stakeholders
      • Support year-end processes, including audit preparation and coordinating requests with auditors
      • Assist with process improvements and help implement best practices across client engagements
      • Work within accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Intacct) and support data accuracy and reporting needs
      • Communicate with clients to gather information, resolve basic issues, and provide status updates

Supervisory / Leadership Elements:

    • Review work of junior staff and provide guidance and feedback
    • Help manage timelines, deliverables, and priorities across engagements
    • Escalate complex accounting or client issues to Manager/Director level
    • Support onboarding of new clients and junior team members

Nice to Have:

    • CPA (active or in progress)
    • Public accounting or outsourced accounting experience
    • Experience with nonprofit audits or Form 990 support (in coordination with tax)
    • AICPA Not-for-Profit Certificate
