Public Trust Eligibility Required

This is a contingent position, meaning employment is dependent upon the successful award of the associated contract to Aretum and completion of any required background investigation or security clearance verification.

About Aretum

Aretum is a mission-driven organization committed to delivering innovative, technology-enabled solutions to our customers across defense, civilian, and homeland security sectors. Our teams work at the intersection of strategy, technology, and transformation, helping agencies solve their most critical challenges. We believe in investing in our people and creating a culture where collaboration, inclusion, and professional growth are at the forefront.

Job Summary

Aretum is seeking a skilled Angular Frontend Web Developer to join our team supporting a large-scale federal technology modernization program. In this role, you will build and maintain Angular web applications, implement UI components from a shared Design System, integrate with RESTful backend microservices, and write frontend tests to ensure code quality and reliability. You will translate Figma designs into production code, build responsive and cross-browser interfaces, and collaborate with backend developers, UX designers, and federal product owners within an Agile scrum team. All frontend code on this program must meet WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 accessibility standards, and you will be expected to implement accessible UI patterns as a standard part of your development workflow.

Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Angular components and UI features against sprint commitments, translating Figma designs into clean, maintainable production code using approved Design System components, tokens, and patterns
  • Build and consume RESTful APIs, collaborating with backend developers on data contracts, request/response structures, and integration points to ensure frontend components display data correctly
  • Write frontend tests (component tests, service tests, integration tests) achieving at least 90% branch coverage on all new and modified code
  • Implement accessibility standards in all UI code, including proper ARIA attributes, semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, and color contrast compliance per WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 requirements
  • Ensure all new UI code passes automated accessibility checks (aXe, pa11y) in the CI pipeline before merge
  • Contribute to the Design System through the governance process: identify reusable patterns, propose new components, and ensure contributions are documented in Figma and Confluence
  • Build responsive, cross-browser interfaces that work across supported browsers and devices
  • Complete code reviews within 1 business day with substantive feedback focused on code quality, performance, and adherence to coding standards
  • Participate fully in Agile ceremonies within a SAFe framework: Sprint Planning, Daily Standup, Sprint Review, Retrospective, and Backlog Refinement
  • Maintain clean, well-documented TypeScript and Angular code that passes SonarQube quality gates: B+ minimum for bugs and smells, zero critical vulnerabilities
  • Support production triage when assigned, diagnosing frontend issues, implementing fixes, and ensuring all changes follow the standard code review and CI/CD pipeline process
  • Collaborate with UX designers on design feasibility during backlog refinement and provide technical input on story decomposition and estimation

Requirements
  • 5 years of applicable experience in frontend web development
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or 3 years of additional experience)
  • Proficiency in Angular (version 12+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3, with hands-on experience building component-based single-page applications
  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs from frontend applications, including handling asynchronous data flows, error states, and loading patterns
  • Experience implementing designs from Figma or similar design tools, translating visual specifications into pixel-accurate, production-ready code
  • Experience working with a shared Design System or component library, consuming reusable UI components and following established patterns and tokens
  • Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and Section 508 compliance, with experience implementing basic accessible UI patterns such as semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and keyboard navigation
  • Experience writing frontend unit and integration tests using frameworks such as Jasmine, Karma, or Jest
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI preferred) and understanding of how frontend builds and tests integrate into the deployment workflow
  • Familiarity with code quality tools such as SonarQube, including understanding of branch coverage requirements and quality gate enforcement
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear status updates, collaborate with cross-functional team members, and document technical decisions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with federal government contracts, including compliance with FAR regulations, ATO processes, and working on mission-critical or regulatory systems
  • Proficiency with Agile project management tools (Jira, Confluence) and experience working in Scrum or SAFe environments with 2 to 3 week sprint cycles
  • Experience with Bootstrap or similar CSS frameworks used alongside a custom Design System
  • Experience with automated accessibility scanning tools such as aXe, pa11y, or WAVE integrated into CI workflows
  • Experience with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium for end-to-end frontend testing
  • Familiarity with responsive design principles and cross-browser testing across modern browsers and devices
  • Experience contributing to Design System governance, including proposing new components, documenting usage patterns, and coordinating with UX and accessibility teams
  • Background in building applications that integrate with federated identity providers or federal payment systems
  • Certification or coursework in accessibility (IAAP CPACC, WAS) or UX design

Travel Requirements

This is a remote position; however, occasional travel may be required based on project needs, client meetings, team collaboration events, or training sessions. Travel is expected to be less than 10% and will be communicated in advance whenever possible.
