Role Description

As an Application Engineer, you will join GFiber's Product Catalog engineering team. This highly visible team is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the critical systems and rules engines that control GFiber's product offerings. In this role, your understanding of product catalog architectures, rule integrity, and hands-on software engineering skills are key aspects that will help you drive our technical roadmap and collaborate effectively with product teams and business analysts.

Our ecosystem relies heavily on in-house Kotlin microservices running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), utilizing Redis for caching, and integrating deeply with Salesforce—which acts as the system of record for our rule data. You will apply industry-standard implementation patterns to build and maintain these services, ensuring seamless integration with third-party CPQ platforms like Vlocity and Salesforce CPQ. As a team member, you will also foster a collaborative environment, providing mentorship and technical guidance to distributed engineers to ensure the continuous enhancement and optimal performance of our software end-to-end

In this role, you'll:

  • Leverage Kotlin microservices communicating with third-party integrations to build, design, and manage the rules engine that controls GFiber's product catalog.
  • Use Kotlin and related technologies, including Spring Boot, Redis, and other related frameworks on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Work on a team of distributed backend engineers, fostering a team culture of collaboration by providing space to ask questions, offer technical guidance, and share ideas.
  • Collaborate with internal development and cross-functional teams, such as technical program managers, engineering managers, and other engineers, to successfully deliver projects within agreed-upon timelines.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to outages and emergency issues.

At a minimum we'd like you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in software design and development using Java and/or Kotlin.
  • 3 years of experience in building services related to product inventory and rule engines.
  • Experience using development tools such as GitHub and Harness.io.

It's preferred if you have:

  • Experience developing for Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience developing systems integrated with and/or hands-on experience using Salesforce (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Vlocity, Salesforce CPQ).

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $133,600 - $172,500 + bonus + cash award + benefits. As pay varies by location, your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
