The ideal candidate will bring a unique blend of artistic talent, marketing insight, and business strategy—guiding a highly creative team known for innovation and excellence. This role involves overseeing the development of on-brand visual content, including concept presentations, graphic illustrations, packaging, and digital assets, ensuring all work aligns with CatFace’s distinct aesthetic. We’re looking for a strong creative leader with exceptional time management skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can self-direct when needed, and has a natural eye for design and a passion for producing compelling work that connects with diverse audiences across platforms.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee and manage the art department, including hiring, training, mentoring, and scheduling staff to ensure optimal team performance and professional development.
  • Establish and enforce high standards for design production, creativity, quality, and internal service across all creative deliverables.
  • Drive process improvement, ensuring the team follows efficient workflows while identifying and implementing tools or systems to optimize design operations.
  • Lead the development of visual strategies, presentation styles, and storytelling techniques to align with brand goals and elevate creative output.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of market trends, consumer behavior, and the competitive landscape, incorporating insights to guide design direction and improve campaign performance.
  • Collaborate with leadership and teams to conduct creative audits, align brand voice, and establish a unified visual identity across all channels and product lines.
  • Translate creative concepts into actionable briefs, providing clear direction, deliverables, and timelines for the internal design team.
  • Delegate projects effectively, overseeing storyboarding, design execution, and ensuring alignment with brand standards and project goals.
  • Facilitate design review and feedback loops, obtaining team approval on final assets while encouraging open collaboration and responsiveness to internal input.
  • Oversee final presentation and distribution of creative assets, ensuring consistency and readiness for cross-functional use in marketing, product, and retail channels.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, or a related field (required).
  • 7+ years of professional design experience, with at least 3 years in a creative leadership or Art Director role.
  • Proven experience in consumer merchandise, packaging, e-commerce, or entertainment-related design is highly preferred.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of high-quality design work across print, digital, and product formats.
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); knowledge of After Effects or motion design is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of typography, color theory, composition, and visual storytelling.
  • Experience designing for various formats including packaging, promotional campaigns, web, social media, and retail POS.
  • Familiarity with pre-press file setup and working with vendors and production teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and mentor a team of designers in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to delegate, prioritize, and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to give clear, constructive feedback and guide junior designers through the creative process.
  • Experience implementing creative processes, tools, or systems to increase team efficiency and output.
  • Strong conceptual thinking with the ability to translate marketing goals into compelling visual executions.
  • A sharp eye for brand consistency, with the flexibility to evolve a brand identity as needed.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with marketing, product, retail, and leadership teams to bring ideas from concept to execution.
  • Up-to-date with industry trends, pop culture, and youth consumer behavior—especially within gaming, YouTube entertainment, or fandom merchandise spaces.

What We Offer
