This position is located in Rocky Mount, NC – DMV Headquarters. The Human Resources Office of DMV provides personnel services to over 1,300 departmental positions.
NCDOT is seeking a highly motivated applicant to assist the DMV HR Manager with all aspects of human resources initiatives. NCDMV is an integral part of assisting NCDMV in accomplishing its goals for the citizens of North Carolina. This position will be expected to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. This position provides significant customer service to DMV management teams by providing NCDOT policy and procedural consultation regularly.
Areas of concentration include salary administration, qualifications, classification and compensation as well as leave of absence processes. This is a hands-on position that is expected to assist with recruitment, screening applications, and sharing the workload of other HR staff to reach common goals and deadlines. Additional duties include providing technical support, problem resolution, hiring package review and approval and participating in special HR projects. Additional expectation includes reviewing and approving the work of lower-level technicians as well as serving as a mentor to these positions.

•Knowledge and understanding of the Leave Administration policy pertaining to Family Medical Leave, Short- and Long-Term Disability, etc. is helpful.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade and Salary Range:  NC15 $55,221 - $96,639

Management prefers applicants with the following:

  • Experience exercising good judgment in analyzing human resource situations and making recommendations and/or decisions within delegated level of authority.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the North Carolina payroll process
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete personnel and time related actions using a Human Resource Information System HRIS system such as BEACON/Fiori.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Leave Administration policy pertaining to Family Medical Leave, Short- and Long-Term Disability, etc.
  • Experience applying merit-based and salary administration policies for screening applicants and completing hiring packages

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree, typically in Human Resources or related field from an appropriately accredited institution and 2 years of experience required; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
