Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Assistant Project Manager in Dallas, TX to support the delivery of complex infrastructure projects within an active airport environment. This role provides critical support to Project Managers and Construction Managers by coordinating project documentation, processing change orders, and maintaining alignment between project scope, cost, and schedule.

The Assistant Project Manager will work within a multi-disciplinary team supporting capital improvement programs, including airfield, landside, and terminal infrastructure projects. The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret contract documents, and the capability to support cost validation, compliance, and project controls activities.

This position plays a key role in maintaining project execution discipline by ensuring documentation accuracy, tracking change events, and supporting communication between contractors, consultants, and client stakeholders. The role offers exposure to all phases of project delivery, including procurement, construction, and closeout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers in the execution of infrastructure and construction projects across scope, schedule, and budget parameters
  • Process and track change orders, including review of contractor proposals for completeness, cost reasonableness, and contract compliance
  • Assist in validating cost components such as labor, materials, equipment, overhead, and profit in alignment with contract requirements
  • Maintain and organize project documentation, including contracts, submittals, RFIs, change logs, and correspondence
  • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and client representatives to ensure timely flow of project information
  • Support development and maintenance of project tracking tools, logs, and reporting dashboards
  • Review project documentation for completeness and compliance with applicable standards, contracts, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist in preparation of project reports, meeting materials, and status updates for leadership and clients
  • Monitor project progress and support identification of risks, issues, and potential cost or schedule impacts
  • Participate in project meetings and support follow-up on action items and deliverables
  • Assist in contract closeout activities, including documentation verification and final deliverable tracking

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) + 2 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting aviation, transportation, or public-sector infrastructure projects
  • Experience processing change orders or supporting cost validation and contract modifications
  • Familiarity with construction contracts, procurement processes, and regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Experience using project management or contract management systems (e.g., Unifier, PMWeb, Procore, or similar platforms)
  • Exposure to federally funded projects and associated compliance requirements (e.g., labor compliance, cost principles)
  • Experience working in a multi-stakeholder environment involving contractors, consultants, and public agencies
  • Experience supporting construction, infrastructure, or capital projects in a coordination, contract administration, or project support capacity
  • Experience reviewing project documentation, contracts, or technical materials
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
