We are looking for a talented Associate Backend Software Engineer (Java, Vert.x, AWS), to join our Signals Software team, building our next generation cloud notebook application.
You will be focused on the back-end design and development of our cloud

notebook product, helping turn marketing requirements into an easy to use and elegant application designed for the scientific community. If you are looking to join an international team of talented engineers, designers, and product managers, and to contribute to delivering amazing, high impact, customer-focused features, this is a great opportunity.
Your first assignment will be to provide / maintain Core SSO application (Ruby) and also slowly integrate within our Core Signals Notebook team to
deliver new functionalities using Java / Vert.X through REST APIs among other things.
 

You Will -

  • Collaborate with fellow team members on priorities, specifications, and feature implementation

  • Craft well-documented, clean, and tested code

  • Create secure, performant interfaces and services

  • Build and maintain new, high-impact functionality into Signals Notebook

  • Work with cloud services and technologies

  • Leverage Claude Code to understand, analyze the codebase and propose specs

Basic Qualifications:

  • 0 - 1 year of professional work experience (and/or internship)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred

  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming

  • Proven Familiarity/Usage of Claude Code or other AI Agents

  • Good SQL concepts and be able to write complex queries

  • Understanding of REST APIs

  • Exposure to CI/CD (Jenkins GitHub)

  • Must have strong teamwork orientation and the ability to foster collaboration within and across teams

  • Excellent work ethic and strong sense of ownership of end result

  • Entrepreneurial minded, creative problem solver, and innovative thinker
     

The working hours for this position will be EST.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $74,000 - $98,500. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire

in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional

factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.
