The Associate Counsel will manage real estate transactions, facilitate market openings, oversee local counsel, advise on corporate matters, and underwrite deals. They collaborate with senior management and require a strong background in commercial real estate law.
The Team:
The Associate Counsel (EU) will play a key role in Unison’s core mission. We seek experienced counsel with demonstrated success in opening new European markets, accelerating a pipeline of transactions to closing, and exercising sound judgment to assess and manage portfolio risk. The lawyer will report to General Counsel and interact regularly with team members from senior management, origination, pricing, and property management.
The Job:
· Managing a pipeline of deals across various European markets and facilitating dialogue between pricing, origination, legal, and the management team.
· Leading efforts to open new markets, including entity setup, compliance, KYC, and creating and validating real estate transaction structures consistent with company underwriting and risk profile.
· Overseeing local counsel in European markets with respect to their document negotiation and due diligence activities.
· Underwriting transactions and preparing recommendations to senior executives.
· Advising on various commercial and corporate matters.
Required Education and Experience:
· 5+ years of experience as a commercial real estate lawyer in law firm and in-house settings.
· Experience with ground lease aggregation, wireless telecom, or renewable energy projects is preferred.
· Qualified to practice law in an EU member state.
· Residence and work authorization within the EU, preferably Spain.
· Written and spoken fluency in English (required) and at least one other European language (preferred).
· Fluency with technology including Office 365, Teams, Sharepoint, and Salesforce.
