As an Associate Creative Director, Writer, you’ll help shape how Hagerty shows up as a leader in the automotive space. You’ll develop creative concepts and campaign platforms across brand, marketing, and large-scale initiatives, translating business and audience objectives into compelling ideas and writing. You’ll collaborate closely with Creative Directors, Art Directors, strategists, marketers, and other team members to develop integrated campaigns across channels. You’ll bring a strong creative point of view to the work, take ownership of your assignments, and confidently develop ideas with guidance from creative leadership. As a leader, you’ll also help elevate the work of the team through thoughtful feedback and mentorship while serving as a strong steward of Hagerty’s brand voice and creative standards.
What you’ll do

• Develop concepts and campaign ideas for integrated brand and marketing campaigns across channels, including large-scale events and key business initiatives.

• Write compelling, clear, and distinctive headlines, copy, scripts, and other creative content across Hagerty lines of business.

• Take campaign platform ideas and develop them into strong, channel-specific creative executions.

• Work with Creative Directors, Art Directors, strategists, producers, marketers, and subject matter experts to develop effective creative solutions.

• Translate business objectives, audience insights, and brand strategy into compelling creative work.

• Consider how Hagerty’s overarching brand story and voice inform each idea and execution.

• Take ownership of assigned projects from brief through execution, seeking input from creative leadership when needed.

•  Present creative concepts to creative leadership and internal stakeholders, clearly   articulating the creative and strategic rationale.

• Research projects, audiences, industries, cultural trends, and automotive topics to inform creative development.

• Deliver high-quality work on schedule and communicate proactively when priorities or timelines change.
Additional Duties Include

• Provide thoughtful, actionable feedback and support to copywriters and other creative team members.

• Help develop and maintain Hagerty’s brand voice and copywriting guidelines.

• Make sound copy decisions on assigned projects while incorporating feedback from creative leadership and project partners.

• Support Creative Directors in presenting and refining work for internal stakeholders.

• Share relevant industry trends, creative techniques, and emerging technologies with the team.

• Contribute to a collaborative creative environment with a high bar for the quality of the work.

• You have experience in an advertising agency or strong in-house creative department, concepting, writing, and producing integrated brand and retail campaigns.

• You’re a strong conceptual thinker who gets excited about developing ideas that can extend across multiple channels.

• You have a high bar for creative ideas and know what makes work distinctive within its category.

• You’re an accomplished writer with an expert understanding of storytelling, grammar, structure, brand voice, and tone.

• You can confidently develop and present your ideas while being receptive to feedback and creative direction.

• You’re increasingly comfortable providing feedback and guidance to other creatives.

• You’re self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple assignments and priorities.

• You collaborate well with creative team members, producers, marketers, and the broader Hagerty team.

• You’re curious about culture, advertising trends, emerging technologies, and new ways to tell stories.

• You enjoy solving creative problems and finding unexpected ways to make an idea more compelling.

• You have an exceptional portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, writing, and integrated advertising campaigns.

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Writing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field, or 8+ years of relevant professional experience.

• Experience presenting creative work and communicating creative rationale to creative leadership and internal stakeholders.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools such as Slack.

Other things to note

• This position is open to U.S. remote work. However, team members who reside within 20 miles of the Traverse City headquarters will follow a hybrid schedule, working from the office three days per week.

• May require travel for quarterly events.

• Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
