Organizational Overview:

The Enterprise Integration Services team plays a pivotal role in connecting and orchestrating systems and applications across the organization. The team specializes in architecting, designing, implementing, and operating secure, scalable integration solutions (APIs, middleware, authentication, messaging, and file-based integrations) that enable seamless data flow, improve business functionality, and support enterprise modernization initiatives.

Role Summary/Purpose:

Development Technical Lead to lead the design, development, and delivery of cloud-native applications. This role provides hands-on technical leadership while driving delivery execution across the Caching Solutions and Rewards System teams. The Technical Lead is accountable for driving business commitments, coordinating across product and platform stakeholders, and reporting progress, risks, and delivery outcomes to leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

As a senior technical lead, you will own technical direction, delivery execution, and operational readiness across multiple teams and stakeholders:

  • Lead the development effort for cloud-native applications across the Sypher, AppPilot, and Presto teams, ensuring timely execution against committed business outcomes.

  • Drive business commitments by aligning scope, sequencing, and technical approach with Product Management, and ensuring delivery plans are realistic, transparent, and measurable.

  • Design and implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes to deliver applications to production, fostering a culture of continuous process improvement.

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture/design reviews, code reviews, and guidance to engineers to ensure compliance with standards and best practices.

  • Perform Technology Alternate Assessments and create Proofs-of-Concept (as necessary) to validate options and inform technical decisions.

  • Work collaboratively with Product Management and Platform Engineering teams during development, launch, and continuing refinement of products iteratively.

  • Collaborate with internal technical resources and third-party vendors to resolve issues, understand underlying causes, and implement sustainable solutions.

  • Work with team members to design, architect, and implement solutions across geographic locations, ensuring effective coordination and consistent engineering execution.

  • Coordinate and communicate status across stakeholders, and report delivery progress, risks, and dependency needs to leadership on a regular cadence.

  • Maintain deep hands-on technical knowledge by evaluating trends in modern software development practices; continuously learn and stay at the leading edge of industry trends.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of system engineering experience, or in lieu of a degree 10+ years of skilled system engineering experience.

  • 8+ years of Strong hands-on development experience in Java and Spring Boot for building enterprise-grade services.

  • 5+ years of Proven expertise in designing and implementing cloud-native applications using a microservices-based architecture.

  • Experience building and rolling out SDKs, including API design, backward compatibility/versioning strategy, documentation, release management, and consumer enablement.

  • Experience deploying and operating applications on cloud platforms such as AWS and PCF (Pivotal Cloud Foundry).

  • 5 + years of Working knowledge of at least one relational databases (e.g., MySQL), including schema design, performance considerations, and transactional data access patterns.

  • Solid understanding of encryption and tokenization technologies and secure development practices (data protection in transit and at rest).

  • Experience with observability, logging, and production monitoring, including tools such as Splunk and New Relic.

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Experience supporting and developing financial services or banking applications.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence clients, teams, management, and external stakeholders

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Gen AI and AI Agents and understanding of LLM

  • Knowledge on any AI tools like ChatGPT , Microsoft copilot

Eligibility Criteria:

Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of system engineering experience, or in lieu of a degree 10+ years of skilled system engineering experience.

Work Timings:  2:00 PM to 11:00 PM IST

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs) We are proud to offer flexibility at Synchrony. Our way of working allows you the option to work from home or workspaces in our Regional Engagement Hubs—Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Kolkata, or Delhi/NCR. Occasionally you may be required to commute or travel to Hyderabad or one of the Regional Engagement Hubs for in person engagement activities such as business or team meetings, trainings, and culture events.
