The BI Engineer will gather business requirements, write SQL queries, build Power BI dashboards, and ensure data integrity to provide actionable insights.
LightEdge is seeking a skilled BI Engineer to support data & analytic functions enterprise-wide. This individual will deliver end-to-end data solutions that includes: gathering business requirements for reporting dashboards, perform data analysis, write SQL queries, ensure data integrity and build dashboards. They will partner closely with stakeholders to build high quality solutions that unlock insights from the data and drives business efficiencies. They will be seen as a data subject matter expert, providing consultation to others on best practices.
Responsibilities
- Gather and document business requirements for reporting and analytics requests
- Write SQL queries applying complex joins and business logic to accurately pull data needed for reporting and analytics
- Administer Power BI cloud instance: provide appropriate access to users, train new users, publish and maintain certified data sources
- Build Power BI dashboards by connecting Snowflake data and creating actionable visuals
- Validate, analyze and document new datasources
- Help establish and follow proper data governance, compliance and security practices
- Partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable data insights using Snowflake and Power BI
- Train and mentor less experienced team members
- Collaborate with data engineers to ensure data in Snowflake is correct and supports reporting needs
Education and Experience
- 5+ years of experience in data/analytics roles including writing SQL and building dashboards
- Proficient with python or other coding software
- Experience with a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, etc.)
- Proven ability to work with stakeholders to turn business needs into actionable data insights
- Intermediate skills in writing SQL
- Skilled in building dashboards (Tableau, Power BI, Domo, etc.)
- Strong business acumen and communication skills
- Experience with data quality and validation practices
- Basic understanding of Data Governance
- Desire and ability to leverage AI responsibly in order to unlock efficiencies
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with an entrepreneurial mindset
