Position Summary: This role is responsible for the oversight of the building management system infrastructure across a multi-property portfolio. This position ensures operational technology systems, networks, controllers, and supporting infrastructure are configured and maintained to provide secure, stable, and consistent performance. Responsible for optimizing system architecture, network integrity, controller polling, alarm structures, and programming standards.

 

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the design, topology, and physical-to-logical mapping of our OT network architecture, ensuring secure and stable communication between field controllers, supervisory engines (e.g., Tridium Niagara), and enterprise systems.
  • Proactively monitor and troubleshoot network bottlenecks, communication dropouts, IP addressing schemes, VLAN segmentation, and gateway performance across all sites.
  • Fine-tune controller polling intervals, point mapping, parameters to reduce network traffic, minimize latency, and optimize real-time data throughput.
  • Rebuild and govern enterprise-wide alarm routing, priorities, and notification matrices to eliminate nuisance alerts, reduce alarm fatigue, and ensure critical faults are immediately addressed.
  • Enforce uniform programming templates, point naming conventions, and software standards to guarantee complete operational consistency from property to property.
  • Partner closely with the Facilities team, leadership, and external vendors to coordinate OT initiatives, troubleshoot system issues, align technical solutions with operational needs, and support consistent performance across the property portfolio.
  • Operate with a high level of discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment within a private household environment, maintaining strict confidentiality and minimizing disruption to residents, guests, and daily estate operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Essential skills and experience: 

  • High school diploma and 6+ years of hands-on experience in building automation engineering, operational technology network design, system architecture, or a related field within commercial, industrial, or multi-site environments
  • Advanced working knowledge of standard building automation and industrial communication frameworks and protocols
  • Demonstrated mastery of major automation frameworks such as Tridium Niagara N4, Distech ECLYPSE, or equivalent platforms, and proficiency with standard industrial protocols
  • Strong understanding of IT/OT network convergence, IP subnetting, managed switches, routers, and serial-to-ethernet communication gateways
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills and a proven track record of creating documentation and maintaining order and reliability to systems
  • Keen attention to detail, adaptability, dependability, and a willingness to take a hands-on approach to system troubleshooting and improvement

 

Valued but not required skills and experience: 

  • Private estate/hotel/ hospitality/museum experience
  • Specialized training and/or certifications beneficial
