About Nominal
Nominal is building software to accelerate the development of the world’s most advanced hardware systems — from spacecraft and autonomous vehicles to next-generation industrial machines. Our platform makes data analysis and integration simple, helping engineering teams move faster without sacrificing safety or precision. We’re a tight-knit team of engineers and operators who own problems end-to-end, work across disciplines, and thrive on solving challenges at the intersection of hardware and software.

We’re backed by top-tier investors like Sequoia, General Catalyst, Founders Fund, Lux Capital, and Lightspeed Ventures, and were recently named in Forbes’ next billion-dollar startups list.

Our team brings experience from SpaceX, Palantir, Anduril, Applied Intuition, and other leading companies, united by a common goal: enabling hardware engineers to push the boundaries of advanced technology with speed, safety, and precision.

The Role
As a Brand Designer at Nominal, you'll play a foundational role in defining how the world sees us. You'll own the creative vision that brings our brand to life — from the visual language that represents our platform to the campaigns that tell our story. This is a rare opportunity to build a brand from the ground up at a high-growth company operating at the cutting edge of hardware development.

You'll work closely with Marketing and Design to craft a brand identity that resonates with the engineers and companies building tomorrow's most ambitious hardware systems. Your work will span everything from digital experiences and product marketing to event presence and social media, ensuring every touchpoint reflects the precision, innovation, and ambition that define Nominal.

🚀 What you’ll do

  • Define and evolve the foundational elements of the Nominal brand, such as logos, colors, typography, and visual motifs.
  • Curate Nominal’s visual identity to ensure it is cohesive and applied consistently across all touch points and campaigns.
  • Design a wide variety of visual assets, including the website, social media, print, and more.
  • Partner with marketing, design, engineering, and product partners to shape and launch initiatives.
  • Put design on real hardware, from track‑tested cars to flight‑ready aircraft, and capture it in photo and motion to power campaigns and launches.
  • Distill complex engineering concepts into hyper‑simple diagrams, images, and short videos that make our product instantly legible.
  • Build a streetwear‑grade merch line with premium materials, partnering directly with our co‑founder on creative direction.
  • Help build the design culture at Nominal and raise the bar for craft across the company.

🔍 We're looking for someone with

  • A portfolio showcasing experience in creating or building upon strong brands.
  • Exceptional hands-on experience and strong graphic design skills — whether through internships, personal projects, or academic work
  • Expertise in design software such as the Adobe suite, Affinity, and Figma.
  • Ability to distill complex concepts into compelling and effective visuals that feel at home with a visual identity.
  • Your peers would describe you as ambitious, resourceful, and perseverant.
  • Bonus: Experience with photography, videography, or motion graphics is a big plus.

✨ Benefits/Perks

  • 🏥 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 🏖️ Unlimited PTO and sick leave
  • 🍽️ Free lunch, snacks, and coffee
  • 🚀 Professional Development Stipend
  • 🛠️ In-office hardware lab with a $250 project stipend
  • ✈️ Annual company retreat

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin.
