Role Overview

This role will be responsible for leading multiple proof-of-concept (POC) projects on the US Employer Precision Underwriting + Pricing team. The team will explore and advance the integration of new technologies, including AI and machine learning, through our pricing and underwriting quoting process. In this role you’ll help us quote and sell business more effectively using data and analytics to drive more real-time insights and strategic decisions. You’ll work closely with matrix partners across pricing, underwriting, data/analytics, sales, etc. We’re seeking a creative, disruptive thinker who can challenge the status quo while bringing structure to an ambiguous problem set.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute fast paced and in-depth analytics with a “dream big, fail fast” mindset. Synthesize complex data into actionable insights. Iterate and support ongoing business needs with quality analytics.

  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously while managing and supporting various stakeholders including but not limited to pricing, underwriting, data/analytics, sales, etc.

  • Push new ideas and solutions that leverage data and insights to drive profitable growth, with a particular emphasis on the U500 segment.  The following are examples of focus areas (non-exhaustive):

    • Advanced A/E analytics: Identify pockets of profitable/unprofitable client segments within the existing book to help inform proactive targeting and decline-to-quote decisions.

    • Customer-level risk simulation: Develop dynamic cost distributions at an individual level that shift as more information is learned on each customer to increase accuracy of predicted group risk.

    • Rate prediction disruptive approaches: Improve manual and renewal rate prediction by incorporating new data sources and new advanced approaches (ex. neural networks)

    • GenAI for large claim prediction: Predict large claims more accurately with LLMs by incorporating unstructured data (ex. clinical notes).

Qualifications:

This position requires strong healthcare specific data and analytics skills, healthcare and insurance content knowledge, communication skills, technical skills across platforms, and project management.

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Healthcare Analytics or related field strongly preferred

  • 6+ years hands on experience in healthcare specific analytics, finance, actuarial and/or underwriting strongly preferred

  • Ability to extract, manage, and analyze data in a scalable way, and make use of this data to improve affordability and quality of healthcare solutions.

  • Proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation; evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.

  • US Employer or healthcare pricing experience preferred.

  • Statistical modeling experience preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills plus an outstanding ability to build relationships and navigate within a complex organization.

  • Self-awareness, maturity, and ability to collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Creativity to address business problems and challenge the status quo.

  • Thrives in a dynamic, rapidly changing, and ambiguous environment.


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 109,500 - 182,500 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
