Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager (Contractor) to identify, develop, and close high-volume photo book opportunities across institutional and mission-driven markets.

The BD Manager position is designed for a highly autonomous, results-driven sales hunter who can both generate new opportunities and uncover scalable revenue categories within our existing customer base. You will analyze successful customer use cases, identify repeatable patterns, and build pipelines that convert these insights into large, repeatable institutional sales programs.

Building on the success of a recent partnership in the public sector, the objective of this role is to replicate and expand similar programs across other mission-driven organizations within California and nationwide.

You will pursue high-volume opportunities in verticals where photo books serve a functional or programmatic purpose, including:
  • Public Libraries
  • Non-profit organizations and other organizations funded through grants
  • Builders and developers creating portfolio books
  • Faith-based organizations
  • Camps and youth programs
  • Other institutional buyers with repeatable bulk purchasing needs

This role requires an experienced, strategic salesperson who can identify scalable market patterns, build pipelines, and close meaningful institutional deals.

Compensation: The rate for this contracted position is $5K/month as well as commissions of 15% of all revenue brought in.

YOU WILL
  • Source, develop, and close ~$25K+ institutional photo book opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of large-volume deals across targeted vertical markets.
  • Identify and engage decision-makers within public library systems, literacy organizations, nonprofits, and other institutional buyers.
  • Develop targeted outreach strategies and execute consistent prospecting activity.
  • Analyze our existing customer base and order history to identify emerging high-volume use cases and repeatable categories.
  • Mine customer data and sales patterns to uncover new scalable vertical markets.
  • Build strategies to replicate successful customer programs across similar organizations.
  • Identify institutional environments where photo books serve operational, storytelling, educational, fundraising, or portfolio purposes.
  • Lead consultative sales conversations with institutional buyers.
  • Develop tailored proposals and pricing structures for large-volume orders.
  • Navigate procurement processes within public sector and nonprofit organizations.
  • Close deals and drive expansion within multi-location organizations and consortium networks.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline tracking and reporting in Salesforce.
  • Execute outreach and sales engagement campaigns using Salesloft or similar platforms.
  • Manage deal stages, forecasting, and sales activity tracking with discipline and consistency.

YOU HAVE
  • 8+ years of sales or business development experience, delivering at least $1M+ in annual revenue.
  • Demonstrated success closing complex deals with ~$25K+ deal size.
  • Experience selling into institutional, nonprofit, education, or public sector/third sector organizations.
  • A strong track record of proactive pipeline creation, prospecting, and closing new business.
  • A hunter mentality with the ability to build a pipeline from scratch.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to identify scalable opportunities across customer segments.
  • A consultative sales approach with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Experience navigating institutional procurement processes.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce or comparable CRM platforms.
  • Experience using Salesloft or similar sales engagement tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and disciplined pipeline management.
