Lightspeed Systems is hiring a Business Development Representative (BDR) to support our growing sales organization. This role is focused on outbound prospecting and lead qualification for K–12 school districts, serving as the first point of contact for potential customers.

As a BDR, you will play a critical role in generating pipeline, setting meetings for the sales team, and shaping first impressions with prospective customers. This role reports to the Head of Marketing and works closely with Sales leadership.

Role Overview

The BDR is responsible for identifying and qualifying new sales opportunities through outbound outreach and inbound lead follow-up. You’ll engage with school district stakeholders, uncover needs, and schedule meetings for Account Executives while developing foundational sales skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Qualify inbound leads from marketing campaigns and convert them into sales opportunities.
  • Conduct outbound prospecting via phone and email to identify potential K–12 customers.
  • Engage prospects to understand needs, challenges, and priorities.
  • Schedule meetings between qualified prospects and the sales team.
  • Maintain accurate activity and lead records in Salesforce.
  • Share insights from prospect conversations, including pain points, objections, and competitive intel, with Sales and Marketing teams.
  • Continuously test and improve outreach strategies to increase response and conversion rates.
  • Support opportunities as they move through the sales process as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong interest in sales, business development, or customer-facing roles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable engaging prospects via phone and email.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Curious, motivated, and coachable mindset.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to SaaS or technology-based products.
  • Interest in or familiarity with the K–12 education market.
