Position Summary
The Manager, Business Intelligence plays a critical leadership role within the Data & Analytics function by overseeing the development, governance, and delivery of enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) solutions. This role is responsible for leading a team of BI Engineers in managing BI platforms, enabling self-service analytics, and delivering scalable, high-quality reporting and visualization solutions that support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
The Manager collaborates closely with business stakeholders, Data Engineering, Data Governance, and IT leadership to ensure BI platforms, metrics, and reporting are consistent, reliable, and aligned with enterprise data strategy. This position is also responsible for establishing BI standards, governing KPI definitions, and driving adoption of BI tools across the organization. The role fosters a culture of innovation, data literacy, and continuous improvement.
Compensation
This role is an exempt position with a targeted salary range of $124,139 to $181,553 annually.
Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.
Essential Functions
- Lead and manage a team of BI Engineers in the design, development, and support of enterprise BI platforms, dashboards, and reporting solutions.
- Oversee administration, configuration, and optimization of BI platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to ensure scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Establish and enforce governance processes for BI platform usage, including access control, environment management, and deployment standards.
- Partner with business leaders, Product, Data Engineering, and Technology teams to understand reporting and analytics needs and translate them into governed BI solutions.
- Drive the development and standardization of KPIs, metrics, and data definitions to ensure consistency and reuse across the enterprise.
- Oversee the delivery of dashboards, reports, and self-service BI solutions across multiple platforms with a focus on usability and adoption.
- Promote and enable self-service analytics capabilities while maintaining governance and data integrity standards.
- Ensure data accuracy and reliability through validation, reconciliation, and alignment with source systems and enterprise data models.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering to define data models, semantic layers, and data pipelines that support BI consumption.
- Lead efforts to manage metadata, KPI ownership, and stewardship to ensure consistent enterprise-wide usage.
- Monitor BI platform usage, performance, and cost, and implement optimizations to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Identify and drive process improvements, automation, and standardization of reporting and BI development workflows.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and PII handling standards, including role-based access controls.
- Lead root cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts for BI-related issues and data discrepancies.
- Mentor, coach, and develop team members through performance management, career development, and knowledge sharing.
- Drive stakeholder engagement through regular reviews, planning sessions, and communication of insights and BI capabilities.
- Stay current with emerging BI tools, technologies, and best practices to continuously enhance the organization’s BI capabilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree directly related to the position or equivalent, required in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Masters Degree directly related to the position or equivalent, preferred in Data Analytics, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum seven years experience with a proven track record in designing and implementing BI solutions that drive business outcomes. Demonstrated expertise in SQL, data modeling, and data architecture principles.
- Minimum three years supervisory or leadership experience in recruiting, coaching, and mentoring a high-performing technical workforce. Ability to set objectives, delegate tasks, and measure individual and team performance effectively.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills required.
- Strong expertise in Business Intelligence platforms such as Power BI and Tableau.
- Experience administering and governing enterprise BI platforms and environments.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience working with relational and cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, SQL Server, Postgres).
- Strong understanding of KPI design, metric standardization, and semantic modeling.
- Experience enabling and supporting self-service BI within a governed framework.
- Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data stewardship practices.
- Experience with SDLC processes, Agile methodologies, and BI deployment pipelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify trends, anomalies, and root causes.
- Experience working with structured, semi-structured, and external data sources.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present insights and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team development capabilities.
- Experience in mortgage, financial services, or regulated industries preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Supervision

Direct Reports: 5-10; Sr BI Engineer, BI Engineer, BI Analyst, Sr BI Analyst.
Requirements
- Mobility in an office, and may occasionally meet with customers or business partners outside of the office.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
- Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio; e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media.
- Ability to accurately interpret sounds and associated meanings at a volume consistent with interpersonal conversation.
- Office environment – moderate noise, no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
- Travel 5% or less.
- Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and make timely decisions in the context of a workflow.
- Must be able to adhere to process protocol. Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.
- Work is primarily performed during the business week, Monday - Friday.
